Day 1: Arrive into Lima. KE services begin with a complementary single-timed group transfer to the group hotel.
Day 2: After breakfast we depart the Peruvian capital and make our way by bus to the mountain-town of Huaraz at an altitude of 3000m
Day 3: Driving out over the Santa River and into the Cordillera Negra, we enter the Parque Nacional Huascaran where we begin our acclimatisation walks. With time to absorb the incredible views of the Cordillera Blanca, we return to Huaraz to spend a second evening.
Day 4: Heading for the hills of Huaraz, we hike to the outskirts of the town, passing through local communities en-route. With a free afternoon to explore the capital of the Ancash region, we spend a third night at the hotel.
Day 5: Departing for the trailhead at Quebrada Vaqueria we visit a colourful market en-route and the memorial site of the 1970 natural disaster at Yungay. Travelling further into the Huascaran National Park we take a short afternoon walk to our campsite at an altitude of 3699m, preparing us for our next day of trekking.
Day 6: Trekking through the agricultural communities of the Tuctu Valley we ascend to an altitude of 4114m and make our camp at the head of the valley. With spectacular views of Taulliraju (5830m) and Rinrijirca (5808m), we are well acclimatised for our first mountain pass in the morning.
Day 7: Continuing on old mule tracks and ancient Andean trails, we take a steady climb over the Pucaraju Pass (4648m), which presents us with a wonderful vista of Mt Huascaran, Mt Paron and Mt Chacraraju. Descending to our camp, close to the Laguna Huecrococha (3962m) this is a wonderful spot to finish the day!
Day 8: Upon leaving camp this morning we head for the village of Tingopampa, crossing the grassy pass of Tupatupa (4383m). Descending into the perfectly picturesque Jancapampa valley we make camp and hopefully enjoy the company of the locals.
Day 9: From Jancapampa our well-paced trek leads us through grassy meadows, forests and eventually to the steep ascent of Tanajanca pass (4598m). Heading up and over the pass we finish the days walk just before the small settlement of Huilca.
Day 10: Today's efforts are rewarded with beautiful views of Alpamayo's North East face (5929m) and further in the distance, the three peaks of Pucajirca. Crossing Mesapampa pass (4500m), we settle in for the night with tomorrow's objective in view!
Day 11: The Caracara pass (4815m) delivers fantastic views of Alpamayo's cirque and the Santa Cruz Mountains. After lunch, we hike up to a picturesque spot below the iconic 'Paramount' peak of Alpamayo (5929m). Descending to our camp (4267m), we hope to finish the day with memorable sunset over Alpamayo.
Day 12: A series of switchbacks leads to the Jatun Viento pass (4648m). Whilst today is our highest campsite at 4511m, we will be in good shape to tackle our final and highest pass of this trek in the morning.
Day 13: Within a couple of hours we should reach our last and highest point of the trek, Toro Pishtanan (4848m). Today's highlight is the descent to the colbalt-blue Cuillicocha Lake, flanked by views of the Cordillera Negra and Cordillera Blanca.
Day 14: Breaking our final camp, we pass through the pre-Incan ruins of Hualacayan, before meeting our vehicle and transferring to our hotel in Huaraz for a well-earned shower and farewell dinner.
Day 15: This morning we depart to Lima by bus. KE services finish on arrival into Lima with a single timed airport transfer.
