  • Ascent of Mount Snijeznica, the highest peak in southern Croatia
  • The Peljesac Peninsula and ancient walled town of Ston
  • The medieval Adriatic city of Dubrovnik

The Adriatic Dalmatian coastline with its island chains, is one of the most scenically dramatic in Europe, dotted with towns and villages which are medieval in character and Mediterranean in ambience. This spectacular walking holiday to Croatia explores the very best of the areas of outstanding natural beauty on the Dalmatian Coast including the islands of Lopud, Korcula and Mljet with its own national park. During the holiday we will walk through vineyards in the lovely Konavle countryside, hike to the top of Mount Snijeznica, the highest point in Southern Croatia and stride out along the ancient walls of Ston on the Peljesac peninsula and the forested ridges of Korcula Island. Travelling between the islands by ferry we climb to the highest points of Lopud and Mljet for stunning views over the coast. On each of our 5 walking days we will have a moderately paced hike of between 10 and 15 km. We will also have the opportunity for sightseeing and with time to relax by the sea. The tour ends with a day spent in the unique walled city of Dubrovnik. Known as the pearl of the Adriatic, the image of Dubrovnik's ochre-tiled roofscape seen over stone towers and battlements which rise from an azure blue sea, is internationally renowned. Close up, Dubrovnik reveals a feast of medieval architecture and baroque churches, while its lanes and alleyways, fanning out either side of the polished marble main street of the Stradun, hide a myriad of small cafes and interesting shops. Croatia remains one of Europe's best kept travel secrets and is the perfect location for a relaxing walking holiday in the sunshine of the Adriatic.

Is this holiday for you?

The walking on this Croatia Coast and Islands holiday is not particularly difficult or sustained. On each day we will have an optional hike of around 10 to 15km with ascents typically between 150 and 225 metres. We will be walking on a variety of trails from quiet country roads to rough paths through the trees and along the coast and also on the walls at Ston. In general the paths are good with no difficult sections and no degree of exposure. While there is sufficient walking on each day to satisfy regular hikers, it is intended that this should be a relaxing holiday with a gentle pace.
