  • A week of trekking with camels along Morocco`s Atlantic coastline
  • Gentle walking with free afternoons for swimming
  • Remote seaside Moroccan villages
  • Exotic Marrakech and the colourful Djemaa-el-Fna
  • The fortified town of Essaouira - a UNESCO World Heritage site

North of Agadir, the Atlantic coast of Morocco is wild, remote and beautiful. This superb walking holiday spends a week following this dramatic shoreline, camping out amongst the dunes and enjoying ever-changing views of headlands, cliffs and endless fine sand beaches. Travelling in a caravan with a team of camels and their colourful drivers and visiting villages en route, this trek is a cultural experience as much as it is a real adventure. Most afternoons are free for swimming and beach games, or for relaxing. The trek ends in the ancient, white-painted port of Essaouira, a fascinating town, whose castellated walls and rows of cannon, still pointing out to sea, are a reminder of the days when pirates and other raiders threatened this coast. With its thriving fishing fleet, maze of market streets and numerous handicraft workshops, this is a great place to explore. Returning to Marrakech, the holiday is completed by an afternoon's exploration of the fascinating labyrinth of the souks and an entertaining evening in the famous and incredibly exotic Djemaa-el-Fna. If you're looking for a different perspective on Morocco, this is one holiday to consider!

Is this holiday for you?

This walking and camping holiday is fully supported with a trek crew and camels that carry all of our equipment. During each day's walk you need only carry what you require that day.  The holiday involves coastal walking with some ascent and descent on a variety of terrain from mule tracks to sand dunes, cliff top paths, and sandy beaches. We will be walking for around 4 to 5 hours each day at a steady pace and there will be time for stops and the occasional swim, as well as opportunities for swimming from some of our camps. It can be very hot during the middle of the day, especially during July and August and this can make the walking harder. However in normal conditions this is mostly amelioratead by a cooling breeze from the sea which makes the temperatures generally pleasant for walking.
