Central Pyrenees Snowshoe Week

- 5 days of varied and exciting showshoeing
- Comfortable mountain lodge accommodation
- Views of the highest Pyrenean peaks, Pico Aneto
- Snowshoeing for beginners
This exceptional snowshoe adventure is based at the spa town of Luchon on the French side of the central Pyrenees. From here, we have easy access to a wealth of superb snowshoe day-walks within a mountain region that ranks amongst the most spectacular in Europe. The valleys and ridges above the town rise to 2000 metres and prove to be the perfect snowshoe playground, as we start out with a couple of easier hikes and progress to more challenging objectives. Popular options during this flexible week include the circuit via the Antenac Ridge, the Pic d'Arres Horseshoe, the Benque Circuit and the hike from the Col de Peyrasourde to the Pic du Lion. All walks are locally guided and the week includes a free day, giving everyone the chance to relax, enjoy the mountain views from our very pleasant accommodation, or to spend time in the quintessentially Pyrenean town of Luchon.
Is this holiday for you?
This holiday covers a variety of ground from relatively easy snow covered forest trails to steeper mountain slopes. The itinerary will be flexible and during the week the guides will use their expertise and local knowledge to determine the best routes to take advantage of prevailing snow conditions and the abilities of the group. A suggested programme for the week is given in the itinerary section. It should be noted that in some snow conditions snowshoeing can be quite energetic and you should have a good level of cardiovascular fitness before coming on this holiday. The itinerary is suitable for novices and also those people with previous snowshoeing experience.
