The published information, including the website, is easy to use and very helpful. My telephone contacts with KE staff were pleasant and productive. The grading of the trip was fair. The food was outstanding. Hotels were simple but comfortable and friendly. The trip was well balanced with a variety of mountain, gorge and coastal walks. The inclusion of a short day with an afternoon on the beach worked very well. Really a well designed itinerary. Jean was a terrific leader. He really knows his stuff and could answer questions on history , geology, biology, local customs...you name it. His laid-back style belied his alertness and awareness of what was going on and he knew when and how to offer help to individuals or the whole group. I personally benefitted from his help. Socially he was the life and sole of the party and enlivened our mealtimes with his anecdotes and wit. He went the extra mile and did so quietly and without fuss.

Very well-planned route and well-paced holiday, with choices of activity on rest-day. Very varied terrain, with each day offering a very different experience/landscape. Flip flops, beach shoes or swimming shoes may be useful for getting into and out of the sea, as stones are sharp and because it's dark stone the beach gets very hot underfoot.

Overall, I very much enjoyed the White Mountains and the isolated villages on the south coast. Liked the fact that we didn't have to move every day. Scenery was wonderful and hikes sufficiently demanding, especially since many of the trails were not in very good condition. Especially enjoyed the isolation of the villages and the relatively small numbers of hikers and tourists.

Trip leader did a great job, route was well planned and leader proved to be an enthusiastic source of knowledge with regard to plant, animal and bird life and local culture.
Overall this trip was one of the best organised and most rewarding trip I've been on (and I've been on many other trips including a previous KE trip).
Staying in small, family-run, hotels and using small family-run cafes and restaurants; they are so much nicer than modern 'chains'. I've stayed in UK 'chain operated' hotels and their equivalent in other countries and they tend to be souless and impersonal. The outfits used on this trip were in total contrast which is exactly how it should be.

The weather, the variety of walking, the scenery, the accommodation in quiet places away from the main tourist areas, the food - in fact the whole experience!I thought that it was an excellent idea to vary the lunches between picnics and eating in local restaurants. You certainly have a winner with this trip!
This was my first trip with KE and, based on my experience, I would certainly use the company again. The trip exceeded my expectations in virtually every respect.

For my first walking holiday, this was an excellent experience and has given me appetite for future similar trips. The group was very friendly and welcoming too. Overall, a fantastic holiday. Our guide Jean went above and beyond what was expected. He was also great company and made us all laugh with his sense of humour. He was very knowledgeable about the area and informative about the areas we visited. Nothing was too much trouble to help people with.
