Cape Town and the Garden Route
Day 1: Arriving at Port Elizabeth airport, KE Land Only package services begin with a group transfer (2 hours) to the Addo Elephant National Park. We check into cabins located on the Sunday's River and after settling in we have a tour briefing from our guide. The rest of the afternoon is free for optional activities including a game drive. In the evening we meet for dinner.
Day 2: We have an early morning game drive in the Elephant Park including a visit to the water hole. After lunch we have a second game drive. Overnight at the cabins.
Day 3: Leaving in the early morning we drive for 4 hours to Storms River mouth in the Tsitsikamma National Park where we stay in chalets. We take a walk through the forest before lunch. The afternoon is free to relax or for optional activities including tree top canopy tours.
Day 4: We enjoy an early morning walk to a waterfall on the 'Otter trail'. We then drive to Kynsna (3 hours) and in the afternoon, visit the Knysna Heads. Overnight in an inn.
Day 5: We leave Kynsna in the morning and drive through George before ascending the Outiniqua pass into the 'Little Karoo' for a complete change of scenery. We arrive in Oudtshoorn after 3 hours of driving in time for lunch. In the afternoon we visit the Cango Caves where we have a scenic tour through one of the best known cave systems in the world. Overnight in chalets.
Day 6: In the morning we visit an Ostrich farm before driving across Robinson's pass to the coast and Mossel Bay were we stop for lunch. After lunch we continue driving to Hermanus arriving in the late afternoon. We check into our accommodation near the beach. Total driving time: approximately 7 hours.
Day 7: A free day to relax and enjoy the beach or walk along the cliffs and local Nature reserve, or for optional activities including whale watching and shark cage diving!
Day 8: Leaving Hermanus we drive for 2 - 3 hours along the 'Whale Coast' route via Gordon's Bay to Stellenbosch were we visit some of the many wine farms. We will also have a cellar tour and wine tasting for the full afternoon. We stay tonight in chalets in Franschhoek, one of the oldest towns in South Africa.
Day 9: In the morning we drive approximately 1 hour 30 minutes to Cape Town. We walk up Table mountain along the Platteklip gorge route from the base of the cable car station. Our accommodation is in the city centre and the evening is free to enjoy the ambience and restaurants of the Waterfront.
Day 10: Today we enjoy a tour around the Cape Peninsula. We drive out of Cape Town via Chapmans Peak and then onto the Cape Point Nature Reserve. We walk to the light house for spectacular views and continue down to the Cape of Good Hope. We then return to Cape Town through the towns of Muizenburg, Fish Hoek and Simons Town with a stop at Boulders Beach to visit the resident penguin colony.
Day 11: The majority of the day is free for shopping and relaxing at the waterfront, or for half-day optional activities such as a visit to Robben Island. In the late afternoon there is a group transfer to Cape Town Airport where KE Land Only package services end. Afternoon or evening flight.
