Oman - Desert and Dhow Adventure Holiday
Holiday Itinerary
Day 1: Rendezvous at the group hotel in Muscat. A single group transfer will be provided from Muscat Airport. KE Land Only package services begin with lunch at the hotel and an afternoon city tour.
Day 2: After breakfast we set of down the coast to Wadi Shab. A gentle 1-hour stroll up this beautiful wadi brings us to the swimming pools. After lunch we walk back to the vehicles and continue our drive to our first camp at the edge of the desert. Here we meet our camels and Bedouin guide.
Day 3: After breakfast we will learn how to control the camels - to make them stand and sit. Once loaded we set off and walk for around 4 hours along the edge of the dunes. We have lunch and a siesta in the shade then trek again for around 2 hours. We then stop for dinner and camp under the desert stars.
Day 4: Today's walk takes us through the higher dunes which will hone our camel driving skills. After around 2 hours the walking is more easy across the flat desert as we head to some trees for lunch and shade. The evening walk will cross a flat plain between the dunes, then follow a dune valley to the next basin and our camp.
Day 5: This morning we climb across more dunes for around 4 hours to reach a goat herders camp where there is plenty of shade. Following lunch and the afternoon siesta, this evening walk will take us back towards the edge of the desert and our final camp.
Day 6: Today we head back to Muscat and swap the land for a traditional overnight dhow trip. Captain Said and his crew welcome us aboard the 60 ft wooden dhow and we set sail. This evening we will moor in the calm waters of the Banda al Khayran fjords and eat a traditional Omani dinner. Overnight on the dhow.
Day 7: This morning we have the opportunity to snorkel, kayak or have a swim before we set off back to the Marina. We transfer to the hotel where we can shower and relax. The remainder of the day is free time. Overnight at the group hotel.
Day 8: KE Land Only package services end with breakfast. After breakfast, there is a single group transfer to Muscat Airport.
