Climbing in the Khumbu Valley, Everest Trekking PeaksA classic trekking and climbing adventure holiday in the Everest region of the Nepal Himalayas. Not surprisingly, this action packed trekking and climbing holiday in the Nepal Himalayas is one of our most popular climbing expeditions. Trekking via Namche Bazaar, the sacred lakes at Gokyo, the Cho La and finally the Kongma La, we complete a full circuit of the Everest National Park and explore each of its 3 main valleys. En route, we'll be trekking to the summits of Gokyo Ri and Kala Patar which are among the finest viewpoints for Everest. Also included is the scramble to the summit of Pokalde, for views of no fewer than 4 of the world's 8000 metre (26240 foot) peaks. For those with higher ambition, there is also the chance to attempt 2 of the more challenging trekking peaks in Nepal- Lobuche East and Island Peak - which offer fine alpine climbing in outstanding Himalayan locations. Offering an exceptional high mountain adventure and excellent value for the money, KE's Everest Trekking Peaks trip is one of the best trekking and climbing holidays in the Himalayas of Nepal.

This is a sustained trip and the overall grade is strenuous. However, most of the itinerary follows good paths and yak trails, providing straightforward walking conditions. Climbing to cross the two principal passes on the circuit offers slightly more difficult trekking conditions, mainly due to the relatively high altitudes (Cho La - 5330m. and Kongma La - 5400m.). The first of the passes, the Cho La, is glaciated and often snow covered. As this trip is primarily aimed at those wishing to climb trekking peaks, the difficulty of the trekking will not be a major consideration. However, the aim of this trip is to accomplish as much climbing as possible and it should be noted that in order to achieve this the trekking programme is quite ambitious. Included within the trekking grade are the two high passes, as well as the easy walking peaks known as Gokyo Ri and Kala Patar, which present no real difficulties and should be within the capabilities of fit and active hill-walkers. Climbing at altitudes of over 5000 metres is always strenuous. Each of these minor peaks is very worthwhile in its own right, offering great vantage points and providing excellent acclimatisation for the more difficult peaks included in this itinerary.
