On the summit of Mera Peak Climb with Everest beyond, NepalMera Peak 6476 metres (21240 feet)is one of Nepal's highest trekking peaks and its summit panorama takes in 5 of the world's 8000 metre peaks - Kangchenjunga, Makalu, Lhotse, Everest and Cho Oyu. Our trek in to Mera Peak begins after a short and exciting flight to the mountain airstrip at Lukla and continues through the high and lovely Hinku Valley. Here, our tried and tested program of acclimatisation contributes to an unrivalled success rate on the mountain. Although physically very demanding on account of the altitude, the climb on Mera Peak is not technically difficult, ascending snow slopes that rarely exceed 30 degrees. The amazing sunrise on Mount Everest and Kangchenjunga, as we slowly ascend to Mera's summit, one of Nepal's most spectacular vantage points, is truly unforgettable. Offering fit and keen mountain walkers the chance to take part in a real Himalayan climbing expedition, our Mera Peak trip is understandably popular.

Trip Guide

This trip offers a great variety of trekking conditions. There is a taste of the popular Everest Trail at Lukla, with its lodges and throngs of trekkers. Then, on the first few days of the trek, between Lukla and Gondishung, there are splendid forests and a great variety of scenery. Beyond Gondishung there is a wild, alpine environment, with a number of small summer grazing camps. Trekking groups entering the Hinku Valley have to be self-sufficient and the team of Sherpas and porters need to be sufficiently experienced and well-equipped for the high altitude trekking that this trip involves. Some of our porter team will have walked in with our equipment from Kathmandu, and some will be hired by the Sirdar in Lukla. The paths are relatively good for most of the route up to our basecamp at Khare, and offer relatively easy underfoot conditions. The trek is given the DEMANDING grade on account of the height of the peak and the fact that there are a couple of long days trekking. The climbing grade of EASY reflects the degree of technical difficulty and is not intended to suggest that an ascent of Mera Peak is without considerable effort.
