On Tanzanian Trails - Mountain biking inTanzaniaAn established KE classic cycle ride, this extraordinary mountain bike trip visits parts of Tanzania that are definitely "off the beaten track". Starting at the Momella Lodge on the slopes of Mount Meru, we bike on little-used jeep trails and cattle tracks towards Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa. We then bike across the baobab-studded Masai plains to the floor of the Great Rift Valley. Meeting cheetahs on the bike trail and hearing elephants around our camp at night are all part of the Africa experience. From Lake Manyara we climb the rift escarpment to Lake Eyasi and reach the end of our ride at the world famous Ngorongoro Crater, where we have an unforgettable day's jeep safari amongst the abundant wildlife of this self-contained ecosystem. Unique to KE, this mountain bike route is only made possible by superb 4x4 back-up from our support team. An African bike trip with an edge to it - only for mountain bikers with a true sense of adventure.

Ride Guide

SEMI-SLICK ADVENTURE. The route follows very rough jeep roads, which in some parts of the Maasai Steppe are no more than faint tracks. Whilst not the most technically demanding riding of our trips, there are fast sections with the occasional sand trap to keep you focused. A mountain bike safari with semi slick tyres for regular weekend riders. The support vehicle is almost always on hand. Average 50 km/31 miles biking per day.
