difficult
From Kazakhstan to Kirghizstan, and China to Pakistan, this is a true adventure mountain biking holiday with a genuine expedition experience across Central Asia which then follows the Karakoram Highway into Pakistan . We begin this classic bike journey in the foothills of the majestic Tien Shan Mountains of Kazakhstan, which form the border between the Central Asian republics and China. Following superb dirt roads and singletrack, we take 9 days to bike from Kazakhstan into Kirghizstan, biking across high passes en route and stopping off to take tea with nomadic shepherds at their yurt encampments. Entering China at the Torugart Pass (3400m/11,555ft), we cycle the legendary Silk Road to the atmospheric bazaar town of Kashgar and continue to cycle along the ‘Friendship Highway’ beneath the isolated 7000m/23,000ft peaks of Kongur and Mustagh Ata. As we cycle over the Kunjerab Pass (4733m/15,529ft) into northern Pakistan, we make the breathtaking 5-day descent by bike of the Karakoram Highway to Gilgit, passing close to giant peaks and tumbling glaciers. This is a fast-moving and immensely diverse bike journey of epic proportions. A true and unique biking expedition. Due to the special nature of this unique biking trip with regard to logistics and visas, we would advise contacting KE at the earliest opportunity to register an interest.
