Looking across to the Zanskar range and Stok KangriKE's new family holiday through the North Indian region of Ladakh, known as 'Little Tibet', begins with a short flight from Delhi across the Indian Himalaya to Leh, the ancient capital of Ladakh. Here, we have a programme of sightseeing to some of the area’s most impressive and colourful Buddhist monasteries, many of which occupy hilltop sites, with commanding views across to the snow-capped peaks of the Zanskar Mountains. During our time in Leh, we find time to drive up to the Khardung La, the world’s highest motorable road and also enjoy a half-day’s easy rafting on the Indus River. Once we are better acclimatised to Ladakh’s altitude, we begin our 5-day trek at Ridzong Monastery. Passing through pretty villages on the north side of the Indus River and visiting several monasteries, our route takes us across several 4000 metre passes where we have panoramic views of range upon range of rugged Himlayan mountains. Returning to Delhi, we transfer directly to a hotel in Agra and have the chance to visit India’s most memorable man-made spectacle – the Taj Mahal. Travelling with other families and accompanied by an experienced KE leader, the whole family are sure to enjoy the sites and adventure that India has to offer.
