The concept of celebration and merry-making at a grand feast is at the heart of the incomparable hospitality of the Berber tribes who live in the Atlas mountains and sub Saharan deserts of Morocco. These special Christmas and New Year itineraries offer a unique opportunity to trek right into the heart of the desert where we will have a special midnight supper under the stars. Warmed by camp fires and in the company of the most famously hospitable people in the world, we can celebrate in true style. By using 4x4 vehicles and camels for support we are able to reach deep into the desert and trek among dunes which rise to 25 or 30 metres. With departures for Christmas and the New Year, this will be an unforgettable trip and a unique celebration.
Trip Guide
This trip involves walking for between 3 to 5 hours over three days. The terrain under foot will vary from hard rock to soft desert sand but for the most part our route follows relatively good trails used by the Berber people of the area. All our camping and personal equipment is carried by camels so it is only necessary to carry a small daypack with daily essentials such as water bottle and camera. Winter daytime temperatures in the desert are not too hot and walking at this time of year should be quite comfortable. We have graded this trip as EASY trekking and it should be within the capabilities of any fit person with a sense of adventure. Note that we are running these special itineraries in conjunction with our French partners Alibert Trekking, and there is likely to be an Anglo-French mix to the group.
The trip pages are only a brief summary of the details available within our trip dossiers. It is important that you read the full day to day description and further information for this trip before making your booking.
