Lying between Corsica and Sicily, the Italian island of Sardinia is the second largest in the Mediterranean. With its great diversity of scenery, from white sand beaches and picturesque villages, to lush pasture and rugged mountains, this corner of Europe is a paradise for hiking on relatively little-used tracks and trails. A short coastal hike to the stunning bay of Cala di Luna is a great introduction to the trip and provides the chance of a swim, before we head up into the shining limestone massif of the Supramonte. Here, we hike for 3 days via the summits of Corasi and Giovanni, with 2 nights of wild camping and great views across the rocky region of Barbagia. Then, after a night in an agriturismo at Orogosolo, we have 2 days to climb to Punta la Marmora (1834m), the high point of the spectacular Gennargentu National Park and of the whole island. This is Sardinia at its most charming!

Trip Guide

This short trip includes 6 days of walking, starting out with an easy coastal hike and continuing with more rugged mountain walking in the Supramonte and Gennargentu regions of eastern Sardinia. On 3 of the days, we can expect to be walking for around 6 hours each day, with the other days being shorter. Most of the paths that we follow are way-marked routes, whilst other parts may be on little-used tracks and trails. Each of the camping places that we use is accessible by vehicle and your trek bags will be made available each evening.
