This short holiday includes some of the best and most scenic hiking in the vicinity of Nepal’s 2 principal cities, Kathmandu and Pokhara. After a day of sightseeing amongst the temples of the capital city and in nearby Bhaktapur, we head up to Nagarkot on the northern rim of the Kathmandu Valley. From here, we have an easy 2 days of walking to Sundarijal, with superb views of an array of Himalayan peaks, including distant Mount Everest. We then transfer to Pokhara, in preparation for our 4-day foothills trek, which leads through villages, pretty farmland and shading forest. Throughout this trek and especially from the high point, on Panchase Hill (2500m), there are wonderful views of the snow-capped Annapurna and Dhaulagiri peaks. Anybody looking for an introduction to Himalayan trekking, combined with a splendid variety of sightseeing, would do well to consider this trip.
Trip Guide
The two short treks in this trip are on good trails with good underfoot conditions. The trekking days are relatively short and easy-paced with a maximum of 5 or 6 hours trekking on any day. The altitudes reached are not particularly high for Himalayan standards and there should be no issues of acclimatisation on this trip. We have graded this trip as EASY and it is the perfect introduction to trekking in Nepal.
The trip pages are only a brief summary of the details available within our trip dossiers. It is important that you read the full day to day description and further information for this trip before making your booking.
