Day 1: Rendezvous at the group hotel in Kandesteg. KE Land Only package services begin with a trip briefing and equipment check followed by dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 2: Transfer to Selden 1537m, in Gasteretal. From here we walk via the Kanderfirn Glacier to reach the Mutthorn Hut (2900m). Distance: 12.5 km. Ascent: 1606m. Descent 278m. Approximate time to complete the day's walk is 7 hours.
Day 3: Ascend the Kandefirn Glacier to Petersgrat (3205m), then descend via the Talgletsher to Fafleralp (1787m). From here we ascend on a good path to the Anen Hut (2366m). Distance: 14 km. Ascent: 890m. Descent 1442m. 7 - 8 hours
Day 4: Trek along the Lotschental valley into the heart of the Bernese Oberland. We put on our crampons to ascend the Langgletcher and we will rope up for the final section to the Hollandia Hut (3235m). Distance: 6.8 km. Ascent: 900m. 5 - 6 hours
Day 5: Today we climb the Abeni Flue (3962m) and return to the hut, before making our descent down to the Konkordia Platz (the largest glacial expanse in the Alps). We then climb to the Konkordia Hut (2850m). Distance: 23.5 km. Ascent: 2294m. Descent 2637m. 9 - 10 hours.
Day 6: Trek to the Grunhornlucke Pass (3280m), cross the Fischergletcher and the Studergletcher to a final climb up to the Oberaarjoch Hut (3258m). Distance: 15 km. Ascent: 1200m. Descent 753m. 8 - 9 hours.
Day 7: Follow the Oberaargletscher to the Oberaarsee Lake and descend to the Grimsel Pass (2165m) where our trek ends. Transfer to Interlaken. Overnight in group hotel. Distance: 15 km. Ascent: 340m. Descent 1421m. 4- 5 hours.
Day 8: KE Land Only package services end with breakfast at the hotel.
This holiday involves going to high altitude. During the course of your trip you will reach altitudes in excess of 3500 metres. This is not something that you should worry about; the human body is quite capable of adapting to a very wide range of altitudes, but it is important that we follow some simple rules in order to acclimatise successfully.
