Hiking in the Shadow of the Eiger
Holiday Itinerary
Day 1: Rendezvous at the group's accommodation in Interlaken. KE Land Only services begin with the overnight at this accommodation.
Day 2: After meeting our guide who will brief us on the week ahead, we take a rack and pinion train to Schynge Platte (1980m). The first day's walk is up to Refuge Weber (2344m) and down via Bach Lake to Fist. Here we take the cable car to Grindelwald and after looking around the village, continue by rack and pinion train to Alpiglen. Approx. walking time : 6 - 7 hours (Ascent: +800m. Descent: -1200m)
Day 3: Today's hike is to the top of the Kleine Scheidegg (2061m), where we have an amazing view of the north face of Eiger. We then go down to Lauterbrunnen where we catch the cable car up to Murren (1650m). Overnight in Murren. Approx. walking time : 5 - 6 hours ( +600m. -1200m)
Day 4: We cross the Sefinenfurke pass (2612m), and descend steeply at first with spectacular views, to reach easier ground across high mountain pastures and through forest. Our day ends in the beautiful village of Griesalp (1350m), in the valley of Kiental. Approx. walking time : 6 hours ( +800m. -1300m.)
Day 5: Today's walk takes us through one of the most beautiful valleys in the Oberland. We climb to Hortuli Pass (2750m). We now follow and old Smugglers' path beside the Bluemlisalp glacier to reach Kandersteg. Approx. walking time : 7 hours ( +1400m. -700m)
Day 6: A cable car ride to Gemmi Pass (1834m) makes for an easy start to the day. From here we climb to Chindbetti Pass (2691m) and descend to the picturseque Alpine pastures of Engstligenalp (1950m). Approx. walking time : 6 hours (+1400 . -700m.)
Day 7: We end the trip with an easy hike down via the famous waterfalls of Engstligen to Adelboden. We meet our transport here and transfer by private minibus to Interlaken where KE Land Only package services end. We will arrive in Interlaken at approximately 1.00pm. Approx. walking time : 3 hours (D : -600 m)
