The following checklist should help you with your packing. As a general rule, you should always try to keep the weight of your equipment to a minimum.

You must bring the following items:

Walking boots / sturdy walking shoes for children

Socks

Trekking trousers / pants

Underwear

Lightweight waterproof overtrousers / pants

Baselayer shirts (Spring departures)

T-shirts and/or casual shirts

Loose-fitting, long-sleeved shirt with collar (for sun protection)

Fleece jacket or warm jumper

Lightweight waterproof jacket

Sunhat

Warm hat (Spring departures)

Eyewear – Sunglasses

Lightweight thermal or fleece gloves (Spring departures)

Daypack c.30 litres (depending on how much of the kids' stuff you want to carry)

Sun protection (including total bloc for lips, nose etc.)

Water bottles (approx 1 litre / quart per person)

Swimwear

Washbag and toiletries

Antibacterial handwash

Small towel

Headtorch / headlamp and spare batteries

Small padlock (to lock your KE trek bag)

Basic First Aid Kit including the following: A broad spectrum antibiotic, antiseptic cream, throat lozenges, diarrhoea treatment (Imodium), painkillers, plasters (band-aids) and blister treatment, insect repellent (DEET), and re-hydration salts (Dioralite). Glucose tablets and multi-vitamin tablets are also a good idea

The following items are optional:

Trainers / sneakers /sandals

Shorts

Spare laces

Trekking poles

Wet wipes

Travel clothes

Pocket-knife (note: always pack sharp objects in hold baggage)

Repair kit – (eg. needle, thread, duct tape)

Camera, film / memory cards, batteries

Toys / games / books etc.
