Day 3: We transfer by mini-bus to meet our trek crew at the trail head at Kande (1 hour drive). Then, setting off on foot, we follow a trail that gently ascends through forest and farm land to Australian Camp (2060m). This short walk of around 2 hours is a good introduction to Annapurnas trekking. Overnight in a lodge at Australian Camp.
Day 4: Today we trek through temperate forest of oaks and rhododendron with occasional views of the Annapurnas as we trek via Pothana to a pass and clearing at Deorali (2150m). From here, we descend to the terraced fields of the Gurung settlement of Landruk (1620m). Overnight in a lodge at Landruk. 5 hours walking.
Day 5: Leaving Landruk behind, we walk through several picturesque hamlets, with views of the Annapurnas ahead of us. Beyond 'New Bridge' we ascend on the west side of the Modi Khola to Ghandruk (1940m). Time to explore this charming Gurung village in the afternoon. Overnight in a lodge at Ghandruk. 3 to 4 hours walking.
Day 6: We end our trek today with an easy and largely downhill walk amongst pleasant terraced farmland. Looking back, there are great views, especially of the Fish-Tail peak, Machhapuchhre. Reaching the main road, we rendezvous with our transport and drive back to Pokhara and our hotel. Overnight at our Pokhara hotel. 4 to 5 hours walking.
Day 7: Today, we drive eastward towards Kathmandu, before turning off to the village of Bandipur (1030m) above the Marsyangdi River. The afternoon is free to explore this traditional village in the Mahabharat Hills, with great views of the mountains to the north. Overnight at a lodge in Bandipur.
Day 8: After breakfast, we drive south to the world-famous Chitwan National Park, close to Nepal's southern border with India. After checking in at our hotel, we embark on a programme of 'jungle activities' which can include bird watching excursions and taking a bath in the river with the elephants. Overnight at our Chitwan hotel.
Day 9: A full day of jungle activities at Chitwan with specialist park guides. We will have the chance to take a safari on elephant-back, with the chance to spot wildlife such as the endangered greater one-horned rhinoceros. We spend a second night at our Chitwan hotel.
Day 10: Driving back up to the main Pokhara to Kathmandu highway, we stop at Kurintar beside the Trisuli River. From here, we ride Nepal's only cable car up to the Manakamana Temple (1302m) for an auspicious experience and fantastic views. We then continue our drive to Kathmandu. Overnight at our Kathmandu hotel.
Day 11: It's great to be able to spend a day in Kathmandu, with the option of a morning's guided city tour (included) which will visit the ghats at Pashupatinath and the great stupa at Bodhanath. In the afternoon you can relax at the hotel or do some independent sightseeing in Thamel. Overnight at our Kathmandu hotel.
Day 12: KE land only services end after breakfast. Complimentary airport transfers from the group hotel are provided.
