Family Holiday in Thailand - Bamboo and Buddhas

Day 1: Rendezvous at the group hotel in Bangkok. KE group package services begin with a 'Welcome' dinner at the hotel. The guide will brief the group on the coming week.
Day 2: After a short transfer to Muay Tai we will vist a local centre for the traditional martial art of Thai boxing. After lunch we drive (3 -4 hours) through rural Thailand to reach Resotel Pier. Here we board a long tail boat for a 30 minute fast ride on the river to our overnight accommodation in a jungle 'Raft House'. After checking in and dinner we enjoy a performance of traditional Mon Dance.
Day 3: The morning is free to enjoy the Jungle Raft. Before midday we take the boat back to Resotel and transfer by road to (1 hour, 15 minutes) to Erawan National Park where we explore and swim in the 7 tiered waterfalls. In the late afternoon we continue the drive (1 hour) to Kanchanburi where we check into our hotel.
Day 4: We drive (20 minutes) to the famous Bridge over the Riover Kwai and the Thai/Burma museum. We then board the Death Railway Train for the journey (1 hour) to Tham Krasae where we explore the nearby Krasae caves. Transferring (3 - 4 hours) to Ayutthaya Railwaywe have the use of a day room in a nearby hotel to freshen up before boarding the sleeper train to Chang Mai.
Day 5: Arriving in Chiang Mai in the morning we transfer to our hotel where we can relax and take a swim in the pool. We then transfer (20 minutes) to a small village to begin our cycling tour (4 - 5 hours including lunch) on quiet roads through rice paddies and traditional villages, stopping at a village school. Afterwards we return to our hotel in Chang Mai.
Day 6: Leaving Chang Mai, we drive via a stop at a local market to Mok Fah waterfall which we should reach in 1 hour. After swimming we carry on a further hour to Baan Pang Lun where we take lunch and then drive for 30 minutes to Huay Nam Dung National Park. We begin our trek here, walking for 2 hours to the Karen hill tribe village of to Baan Mae Jok. This evening we enjoy a welcome ceremony and dinner.
Day 7: Today's trek (3.5 - 4 hours) brings us to the Elephant Camp. After lunch here we have the chance to ride an elephant (45 minutes) to our next overnight stop at the Karen village of Bann Pang Khao Laam. Here we have a Thai cooking class preparing dinner and finish the evening around a camp fire.
Day 8: On our final day of trekking we take a gentle ride on a bamboo raft along the Mae Tang River for 1.5 - 2 hours to the Lahu tribe village of Baan Pong Ngan. After looking around the village we continue on the raft for a further 2 hours to Shan Village where we have lunch. We then transfer (2.5 hours) by road back to Chang Mai and check into our hotel.
Day 9: A day for independent exploration of Chiang Mai or simply to rest and relax by the hotel pool. In the early evening we will transfer to the station to board the overnight sleeper train for Bangkok.
Day 10: Arriving in Bangkok in the morning we enjoy a traditional Thai breakfast and transfer to our hotel. Later this morning we will have a tour of Bangkok's famous canals known as 'klongs' by private boat. The afternoon is free for further optional sightseeing activities. Overnight at hotel.
Day 11: After breakfast we transfer to Bangkok International Airport where KE Land Only package services end.
