Day 1: Arriving at Yangon Airport, we are met by a KE representative who will arrange the transfer to the group hotel. In the early evening we meet our local guide who will take us to a nearby restaurant for some authentic Burmese Cuisine. Over dinner the guide will brief us on what to expect over the coming days. Overnight at the group hotel in Yangon.
Day 2: Today we have a guided city tour of Yangon. There is much to see and do in this vibrant city from its old colonial legacy to its lively colourful markets, its museum treasure houses and ancient temples. a highlight will be a visit to the incredible golden shrines and stupas of the Schwedagon Pagoda. This evening we visit Karaweik Lake where there is a playground and replica of a royal barge.
Day 3: We transfer to the airport for the 1 hour 15 minutes flight to Bagan, the incredible temple-strewn plain located in a great bend of the Irrawaddy River. after checking in to our hotel we visit the Nyaung U market and this evening we take a ride in a horse and cart to the river bank for sunset. Overnight in Bagan.
Day 4: This morning we will visit some of the amazing temples Bagan is famous for. In the afternoon we can attend a monastic school and join in with the lessons and also watch cart builders at work in a local village. In the evening we can watch the sunset on the river from one of the temples. Overnight in Bagan.
Day 5: Returning to the airport we have another short (1 hour) flight to Heho from where we drive up into the hills to Kalaw, a former British Hill Station where the air is cool and clear. After checking in to our hotel we can explore the market of this interesting ridge-top town.
Day 6: This morning we will make a short trek along the ridge for around 2 hours to reach Pane Ne` Bin village. We can see the tea plantations and learn all about tea production. From the village we transfer by truck back to Kalaw where we join with local families at St. Xavier's Church for games and to share a meal together. Overnight in Kalaw.
Day 7: We start the day with a drive (2 hours) to Pindaya where we visit the Shew Oo Min Cave, a huge limestone cavern containing literally thousands of golden Buddhas. We stay tonight at a hotel close to the main entrance of the cave.
Day 8: Today we head for one of Burma's top attractions - Inle Lake. Our drive will take approximately 3 hours and on the way we stop to visit a village whose cottage industry is umbrella making. After checking into our hotel and exploring the lakeside market town of Nyaungshwe, we have the option to attend a Burmese cooking class.
Day 9: Inle Lake is the second largest lake in Myamar. It has a very attractive setting and is dotted with stilt-house villages and floating gardens of the Intha people who have lived here for centuries. The Intha are famous for rowing with one leg while casting their fishing nets. We have a day of cruising on the lake to take in its various sights and visit the cottage industries of the stilt villages.
Day 10: Returning to the airport at Heho (1 hour drive) we fly back to Yangon (1 hour 20 minutes) and check in to our hotel. We have some free time to further explore the city including Bogyoke market noted for its handicrafts. This evening we will visit the China Town area of the city before having a 'farewell' dinner. Day 11: We say goodbye to Myanmar. After breakfast at the hotel we transfer to the airport where KE Land Only package services end.
