The following checklist should help you with your packing. As a general rule, you should always try to keep the weight of your equipment to a minimum.

You must bring the following items:

Strong shoes or walking boots / Trainers / Sneakers

Sandals/flip flops



Lightweight trousers / pants

Windproof/waterproof jacket

Loose-fitting, long-sleeved shirt with collar (for sun protection)

T-shirts and/or casual shirts

Fleece jacket or warm jumper/sweater


Eyewear – Sunglasses

Daypack 20 - 25 litres

Swimwear & towel

Headtorch / headlamp with spare batteries

Sun protection (including total bloc for lips, nose etc.)

Water bottles 1 litre / 1 quart

Washbag and toiletries

Antibacterial handwash

Small padlock (to lock your KE trek bag)

Basic First Aid Kit including the following: A broad spectrum antibiotic, antiseptic cream, throat lozenges, diarrhoea treatment (Imodium), painkillers, plasters (band-aids) and blister treatment, insect repellent , and re-hydration salts (Dioralite). Glucose tablets and multi-vitamin tablets are also a good idea

The following items are optional:


Long skirts (below the knee)*

Bicycle helmet (if you intend to take the optional cycle ride)

Wet wipes

Small padlock (to lock your KE trek bag)

Pocket-knife (remember to pack sharp objects in hold baggage)

Repair kit – (eg. needle, thread, duct tape)

Camera, media, spare batteries

Travel clothes

Snorkel and mask

Toys / games / a football / kite etc

*Note: Many of the temples do not allow shorts or half-length trousers, so long skirts and long trousers are recommended.
