Day 1: Arrive in Beijing. KE Land Only package services begin with a transfer to the group hotel. This afternoon we visit the 798 Art Zone. Overnight at the group hotel.
Day 2: This morning we will visit all those iconic places and famous names associated with Beijing including Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City. In the afternoon we visit the 'Temple of Heaven' where the emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties oversaw the ceremony for good harvests.
Day 3: We have a fascinating drive of 2 hours through the rolling countryside around Beijing to reach the Great Wall. A highlight of the holiday is our walk along the wall for approximately 2 hours. We then transfer to Beijing railway station where we catch our train to Luoyang. Overnight Luoyang.
Day 4: Arriving at Luoyang the ancient capital of 13 dynasties, we take our breakfast in the group hotel before visiting the Shaolin Temple. Here we watch a demonstration of Kungfu and then have a Kungfu lesson (1 - 2 hours). We return to the group hotel for an overnight stay in Luoyang.
Day 5: Today we visit the Longmen Grottoes which are located 12 km south of modern Luoyang boast 1352 caves, which contain more than 100,000 statues, plus 40 Pagodas housing 3600 tablets of Buddhist inscriptions. Following this visit we catch another train to Xi'an, arriving here at the end of afternoon. We check into our comfortable group hotel.
Day 6: For those who wish we can have a tour of the city wall by bicycle. We will also visit the small Wild Goose Pagoda. In the afternoon there is the opportunity to visit with a local family shopping together in the local market for the ingredients to make a family dinner and a cooking lesson to prepare it. Overnight at the group hotel.
Day 7: The main reason to visit Xian (the Eternal City) is to see the incredible terracotta army and we will spend part of today marvelling at these life size warriors horses and chariots numbering over 8000 pieces. Afterwards we catch the train to Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan Province the natural habitat of the giant panda. Overnight train to Chengdu.
Day 8: We visit the Panda Breeding & Research Centre to learn all about these shy and rare animals. In the afternoon we transfer to the airport and take a flight to Guilin in the northeast of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region of far southern China. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 9: Guilin is situated on the banks of the Li River and today we enjoy a cruise along the river one of China's most scenic river journeys with giant limestone peaks towering above the banks. We have lunch on board and in the afternoon we arrive at Yangshuo where we check into our hotel.
Day 10: We can have a bike ride through the spectacular karst scenery around Yangshuo. Alternatively we can take an easy walk through the countryside. In the late afternoon we fly to Shanghai.
Day 11: A full day of sightseeing in and around the city by vehicle, on foot and by boat. Shanghai is where west and east come together and all aspects of China from ancient to the most modern are to be found here. Overnight Shanghai.
Day 12: We have a free day in Shanghai to enjoy the rest of this interesting town. We spend our last night in China.
Day 13: KE Land Only package services end after breakfast. A complimentary group airport transfer is provided.
