Everest Lodge Trek - Families
Holiday Itinerary
Day 1: Rendezvous at the Hotel in Kathmandu. KE group package services begin with a complimentary airport transfer which is provided for all flights. After briefing by our guide the rest of the day is free to explore and we meet for dinner at the hotel.
Day 2: We have a half day's sightseeing tour of Kathmandu Valley. In the morning we will take in the ghats of Pashupatinath and the great stupa at Boudhanath, and in the afternoon you have the optional to visit the ancient city of Bhaktapur or rest at the hotel. Overnight at hotel.
Day 3: An early start for the flight to the Hilary airstrip at Lukla. After lunch we begin trekking, mostly downhill to our first overnight stop at Phakding (2599m / 8530ft). Overnight lodge, Phakding.
Day 4: We continue up the Dudh Kosi Valley past many small farms and villages and with several ups and downs to reach the village of Monjo and our night's accommodation. After lunch at the lodge there is the option for a guided walk or we can simply relax and enjoy the spectacular location high above the river.
Day 5: Following the Dudh Kosi valley upstream we cross and recross the river to a final steep climb to the Sherpa capital of Namche Bazaar (3438m / 11280ft). Overnight at lodge, Namche.
Day 6: A rest day at Namche Bazaar to have a day off walking for the younger members of the party. Overnight at lodge, Namche.
Day 7: Today we walk via the Sherpa village of Kunde to Kyangjuma for our first views of Everest, Lhotse and Ama Dablam. Overnight lodge, Kyangjuma.
Day 8: We continue our trek now following the Imja Khola (river) to reach Thyangboche located on a ridge below the impressive north ridge of Kang Taiga. This is our highest point of the trek at 3860m / 12664ft. Overnight lodge.
Day 9: Rest day at Tyangboche. Options include a day hike to Pangboche, the highest permanent settlement in the valley. We will also visit Nepal's most famous monastery. Lodge.
Day 10: Today we retrace our steps back down to Namche Bazaar. Overnight lodge.
Day 11: Today's trail is very good although steep in descent in places and so we make a leisurely pace reaching Phakding early and having the rest of the day free. Overnight at Lodge, Phakding.
Day 12: Our final morning's walk will take around 3 hours as we climb back up to the Lukla ridge. We have the afternoon free to spend some final moments enjoying the mountains of the Khumbu. Overnight lodge, Lukla.
Day 13: Here we check in for the return flight to Kathmandu. Arriving in Kathmandu around mid-day or early afternoon we check into our hotel. The rest of the day is free for relaxing or souvenir buying. Overnight at the hotel in Kathmandu.
Day 14: Free day in Kathmandu for further exploration or shopping. Hotel.
Day 15: KE group package services end after breakfast. Complimentary airport transfers are provided.
