Exciting and vibrant, this former imperial city promises a pure sensory overload, complete with year-round sunshine and excellent opportunities for shopping in the maze of streets that make up the traditional market or 'souk'. For an authentic taste of Morocco you can stay in a traditional riads. Built around a central courtyard, often with elaborate gardens, these chic and intimate guesthouses provide shade and shelter from the heat of the North African sun. The standard rooms have air conditioning, mini bar, satellite TV and a balcony. It is also possible to upgrade to an independent bungalow.

Close to Moroccos south-eastern border you will find the start of the worlds largest desert - the legendary Sahara. A place that conjures up images of stately camel trains crossing endless miles of golden sand dunes and gigantic clear skies filled with millions of bright stars. Visit the Kasbahs of the world heritage site at Ait Ben Haddou and drive through the Oases of the Draa Valley as you explore the magnificent desert landscape. With Bedouin guides, learn about the traditional nomad life in our camp at Erg Chegaga and climb the dunes to watch the changing colours of the sands at sunrise.
Edge of the Sahara
For a real taste of the Sahara, this 4-day extension is hard to beat. Journeying across the Atlas Mountains we will arrive in the oasis town of Agdz and overnight in a traditional Moroccan house. The next morning we continue our journey to the desert, heading for our comfortable Bedouin camp at Erg Chegaga by early afternoon. We take in a colourful desert sunset before settling round the camp fire for dinner. The following morning we watch the sun rise and spend the morning exploring the desert's magical landscapes by 4WD vehicles. After an overnight at Ouarzazate, we make our way back to Marrakech via the UNESCO protected Kasbahs of Ait Ben Haddou. Services end on arrival into Marrakech. Should you wish to return directly to the airport for your flight, please let us know in advance.

1 night in a traditional guesthouse in the oasis town of Agdz, 1 night in a desert Bedouin camp, 1 night in maison/riad accommodation in Ouarzazate. All breakfasts and all dinners. Transfers to and from Marrakech.

After breakfast, we cross the High Atlas via the spectacular Tizi N Tichka Pass and continue onto Ouarzazate - The Door of the Desert. This stunning area is a popular film location: Lawrence of Arabia, Gladiator and the extremely popular Game of Thrones. We pass through the Palm Kasbah at the foot of Djebel Kissane before arriving in the oasis town of Agdz, where we overnight
Leaving the tarmac behind, we head for the desert in our private 4x4 vehicle and head towards Tammegroute, the ancient centre of learning and religion to view ancient manuscripts. Arriving into the desert we make our way across to the Dunes of Chegaga for a spectacular sunset before returning back to our charming fixed desert camp complete with Eco hot showers!
An early start to watch a spectacular desert sunrise, before we head across the desert plateaus of Oued Namm and Oued Laatache. As we make our make out of the desert, we pass the magnificent Dune of Ezarh before joining a desert track to Ouarzazate. Overnight in a traditional maison/riad.
After breakfast we head to the wonderfully preserved UNESCO Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, which is a fabulous example of Southern Moroccan architecture. After exploring we make our way back to Marrakech, passing by the Kasbah of Telouet located on an ancient caravan route. Once the stronghold of the Lords of the High Atlas and Pasha of Marrakech, Kasbah Telouet is beautiful.
