Our amazing family adventure to the extraordinary island of Madagascar, in the Indian Ocean ensures we see the important lemurs, forest and sandy beaches, whilst also experiencing the fascinating culture and warmth of the Malagasy people. We start with a journey on a little refurbished train from Tana to Perinet National Park to see the Indri-Indri. We then continue and take a boat trip up the Canal des Pangalanes to a remote lodge where we relax and experience some incredible lemur sightings whilst swimming and enjoying the views. The second week of our holiday takes us to the north where we fish for lunch and bbq on the white sandy beaches, visit the spiky stone forest of Tsingy at Ankarana, and have a couple of days to relax on the coast and swim in the emerald seas. Staying in hotels, remote wilderness lodges and camping for one night this two-week family holiday is a notch above the rest and really does allow us to experience some of Madagascar's finest places and most fascinating wildlife and people.

Is this holiday for you?

This trip is designed to experience the wildlife and culture of this fascinating, developing country. There are many boat trips and swimming opportunities and it is advised that children should be able to swim although buoyancy aids will be provided. There is not a significant amount of walking on any particular day, although walks of around 1 hour should be expected to seek out the wildlife. We overnight in simple but clean and comfortable hotels, lodges and bungalows. One night we will camp near the Ankarana National Park. All meals are included, so there are no additional costs during the holiday and you don't have to worry about carry large amounts of spending money. A sense of adventure by all the family is required (intrigue and an interest in wildlife helps as well!) and it is suitable for families with children aged 8 and up. The Malagasy people are exceptionally friendly and will welcome family groups with open arms and their generous warm spirit.
