Day 2: After a short transfer, today's walk begins at La Cercada. We hike up through a steep rocky ravine onto a vast volcanic plateau overlooking Mogan. We have lunch, then descend to the village and climb on a mountain path to Casa de Veneguera, a wild uninhabited region for sensational views over the island. Transfer back to our hotel. 12.6 km with 1044 metres of ascent.
Day 3: We transfer back to Degollada de Veneguera and continue the trek. Climbing to El Laurelille (945m) we are rewarded with wonderful views to the centre of the island. Transfer back to our hotel in Puerto de Mogan. 12.5 km with 1005 metres of ascent.
Day 4: Leaving Puerto de Mogan, we drive inland on a mountain road to the start of the Roque Nublo hike in Tejeda (50 minute drive). The views from the 'Roque' are simply superb and afterwards we descend through a number of tiny hamlets to Ayacata, where we stop for coffee. We then have a short drive to our hotel in the mountain village of San Bartolome. 13.5 km with 700 metres of ascent.
Day 5: We start the day directly from the hotel, ascending on 'Camino Reales' to Cruz Grande. From there, we ascend sharply on paths clinging to the rock face and have fantastic views over the island and surrounding seas. Our objective is the summit of Pico de las Nieves (1951m) the highest point on Gran Canaria. We drive back to our hotel in San Bartolome. 11 km with 1152 metres of ascent.
Day 6: Our goal for today is Tamadaba (1444m), the highest peak in the north-west of the island, where the sheer cliffs drop to the Atlantic coast. Along the way we walk through pine forest, visit the 'Caves of the Goat-herders' and have sensational views across to Tenerife and Pico Teide. After the walk we drive via Artenara Village back to our hotel in San Bartolome. 9 km with 650 metres of ascent.
Day 7: We drive out of the mountains towards Las Palmas. En route we stop at Caldera de Bandama for a stunning walk around the crater's edge.
