Ride the Complete Route!

Fully guided and vehicle supported, we road bike from airport to airport, Geneva to Nice, climbing some of the most historic road biking cols of Europe.

  • Road bike the Route des Grandes Alpes
  • Ride the famous `Col du Galibier` & `Col d`Izoard`
  • Cycle Cime de la Bonnette - Europe`s highest paved road
  • Experience Tour de France mountain stages
  • The ultimate alpine challenge for road cycling enthusiasts

This brilliant cycling holiday makes a true bike journey across the heart of the French Alps, via the 'Route des Grandes Alpes' and most certainly ranks as one of the world's great cycle tours. Taking in some of the most famous Tour de France climbs, such as the Galibier and the Iseran, we also cycle over the Cime de la Bonette (2802m), Europe's highest paved road. At the beginning and end of this memorable cycle ride, we deviate our cycling from the main route onto quiet country roads in Switzerland and France to avoid busy sections. To cycle around 16,000 metres of ascent and descent through the most spectacular scenery in the French Alps is a real challenge and this Alpine road cycling holiday is surely a 'must do in a lifetime' ride for 'sportive' riders and cycling enthusiasts alike. It is also now very accessible due to the many low cost flights going into Geneva and out of Nice.

Is this holiday for you?

ROAD CYCLING ADVENTURE Our epic cycling journey from the Alps to the Mediterranean ranks amongst the world's greats. With 15,968 metres of ascent and 16,322 metres of descent over 711 km (440 miles), it is a real challenge. It is easy to spin on many of the climbs, which only average around 6 or 7% gradient, but they are long and unyielding, followed by descents that are often sinuous and always fast. This is a partially supported ride - at the start of the day, when the group sets off biking, your kit bag will be loaded into the support vehicle and transported to the next overnight hotel. During the morning, the support vehicle will make a number of stops to allow the riders to regroup and refuel. There will also be a pre-arranged rendezvous with the support vehicle for lunch. After lunch, whilst the support vehicle driver will usually go ahead to sort out the next night's accommodation, he can always be called back if he is needed. The support vehicle can only ever carry a carry a couple of riders and their bikes, in the case of tiredness or mechanical breakdown. You are free to cycle at your own pace and need only carry the normal tool kit and spares that you would take on any day ride. This is not a holiday for inexperienced cyclists - a good level of physical fitness and stamina will be required. Following classic Alpine roads, with major climbs and descents, this is a hooliday for regular club, sportive and randonee riders. Average 80 km (50 miles) per day. BIKE HIRE AVAILABLE LOCALLY.
