Geneva to Nice Cycle Tour
Day 1: KE Land Only package services start with our support vehicle, located at Geneva Airport from 12 to 4pm to meet clients arriving from various flights. Ride alongside Lake Geneva to Thonon-Les Bains from the Airport. Ride distance 44 km (27miles) with 255 metres of ascent and 252 metres of descent.
Day 2: A relatively easy start to the holiday cycling along quiet country roads through the Vallee Verte to Bonneville.Then a long easy angled climb through the Gorges des Eveaux to La Clusaz. Ride distance 75 km (47 miles) with 1589 metres of ascent and 990 metres of descent.
Day 3: Magnificent scenery and stunning views of Mont Blanc as we cross the Col de Aravis and Col de Saises before dropping to Beaufort and the final short climb to the small village of Areches. Ride distance 57 km (35 miles) with 1569 metres of ascent and 1616 metres of descent.
Day 4: A steady 9% gradient after breakfast to the Col du Pre followed by our first true Alpine pass the Cormet de Roseland. Its then a fast drop to Bourg St Maurice and another long climb to Val d'Isere. Ride distance 70 km (44 miles) with 2272 metres of ascent and 1436 metres of descent.
Day 5: A big day over the Col de L'Iseran which is regularly closed by snow to June, after we descend into the Haute Maurienne Valley. A rolling ride finishes with the climb over the Telegraphique to Valloire. Ride distance 107 km (67 miles) with 2196 metres of ascent and 2619 metres of descent.
Day 6: The first of 2 crux days as we bike over the famous Galibier, virtually always included in 'the Tour', down to Briancon and then across the excellent and remote Col d'Izoard to Guillestre. Ride distance 105 km (66 miles) with 2524 metres of ascent and 2860 metres of descent.
Day 7: A giant ride over the Col de Vars and down the Ubayne Valley to Jausiers before crossing the superb Cime de la Bonette (2802m), the highest paved road in Europe, to end at Auron. Ride distance 98 km (61 miles) with 3124 metres of ascent and 2569 metres of descent.
Day 8: Continuing down the Tinee Valley we leave the main drag for quiet backroads and steep passes through the remote mountain villages of La Tour and Utelle, before dropping down to our hotel near Levens. Ride distance 95 km (61 miles) with 1490 metres of ascent and 2003 metres of descent.
Day 9: Our epic journey comes to an end as we ride towards the Mediterranean and into Nice. KE group services will end mid morning at Nice Airport where we will pack our bikes for the journey home. Ride distance 38 km (24 miles) with 295 metres of ascent and 814 metres of descent.
This holiday involves going to moderately high altitude. During the course of your trip you will reach altitudes in excess of 2500 metres. Most people will have no difficulty with this level of altitude but before coming on the holiday, we recommend you read the advice on trekking at altitude.
