Geneva to Nice Road Cycle Tour - Best of the Alps

Day 1: KE Land Only package services start with a rendezvous with the support vehicle at Geneva Airport. The support vehicle will be on hand from midday to 4 pm, to meet clients arriving on various flights. Assemble your bike at the airport and then cycle beside Lake Geneva to Thonon-Les Bains. Ride distance 44 km (27miles) with 255 metres of ascent and 252 metres of descent.
Day 2: After breakfast at the hotel, there is a relatively easy start to the holiday, cycling on quiet country roads through the Vallee Verte to Bonneville.This is followed by a long, easy-angled climb through the Gorges des Eveaux to La Clusaz. Ride distance 75 km (47 miles) with 1589 metres of ascent and 990 metres of descent.
Day 3: Straight out of the hotel, we start the steady climb of the Col des Aravis (1498m) followed by the Col des Saises (1650m) with views to Mont Blanc if the weather is clear. We then drop down to Beaufort, before making the final short climb to the small village of Areches. Ride distance 57 km (35 miles) with 1569 metres of ascent and 1616 metres of descent.
Day 4: Today's first climb is the steady 9 percent incline of the Col du Pre (1703m). From here, we descend to the Lac de Roselend and cycle up to our first real Alpine pass, the Cormet de Roseland (1967m). It's then a fast drop to Bourg St Maurice and another long climb to the famous ski resort of Val d'Isere. Ride distance 70 km (44 miles) with 2272 metres of ascent and 1436 metres of descent.
Day 5: A big day, which start out with the crossing of the Col de l'Iseran (2770m) which is regularly closed by snow until mid June. Descending to Bonneval in the Haute Maurienne Valley, we then have a long, gradual descent to the foot of the Col de Telegraph (1566m) which we have to cross to reach Valloire. Ride distance 107 km (67 miles) with 2196 metres of ascent and 2619 metres of descent.
Day 6: The first of 2 crux days as we bike over the famous Col du Galibier (2642m) which is virtually always included in 'the Tour'. Descending to Briancon, we then climb again to cross the excellent and remote Col d'Izoard (2361m), before making the long descent to Guillestre. Ride distance 105 km (66 miles) with 2524 metres of ascent and 2860 metres of descent.
Day 7: Cycling up to the Col de Vars, the angle relents high up with a great cafe stop below the pass. A mega descent they leads through the Ubayne Valley to Jausiers and a lunch stop at the start of the climb to the breathtaking Cime de la Bonette (2802m). The day's final ascent to Auron is the sting in the tail. Ride distance 98 km (61 miles) with 3124 metres of ascent and 2569 metres of descent.
Day 8: Continuing down the Tinee Valley we leave the main drag for quiet backroads and steep passes through the remote villages of La Tour and Utelle in the splendid Alpes Maritime. More undulating cycling, through Levens and Aspremont, takes us to our final hotel of the holiday at Colomars. Ride distance 112 km (70 miles) with 1500 metres of ascent and 2100 metres of descent.
Day 9: Our epic journey comes to an end as we ride towards the Mediterranean and into Nice. KE Land Only package services end mid morning at Nice Airport where we will pack our bikes for the journey home. Ride distance 32 km (20 miles) with 200 metres of ascent and 700 metres of descent.
This holiday involves going to moderately high altitude. During the course of your trip you will reach altitudes in excess of 2500 metres. Most people will have no difficulty with this level of altitude but before coming on the holiday, we recommend you read the advice on trekking at altitude.
