Grand Traverse of the Jura Ski Tour

Day 1: Rendezvous at the group's accommodation in the small Swiss town of St Croix. Your guide will be at your accommodation in the afternoon to assist with organising any ski hire and to brief you on the days ahead. We eat in a local restaurant tonight where many local dishes are available.
Day 2: We have a short taxi transfer to the trail head at Les Fourgs where we can buy our GTJ ski passes. We allow time to find our ski legs and get used to the equipment before starting the Grand Traverse, skiing along gentle terrain through pine trees and across snow covered meadows to the ski town of Metabief where we stay overnight in a hotel. Total distance skied: 20km. Ascent: 230m. Descent: 350m.
Day 3: Leaving Metabief we rejoin the trail that takes us back off the beaten track. we ascend through pine forest on good trails and after lunch, we ski gently downhill to Mouthe and La Source du Doubs. (29kms)
Day 4: The next three days of our journey take us along the race course of the famous "Transjurassienne", France's longest cross-country ski race, to Pre Poncet. As we enter the Combe des Cives the terrain angle eases for an enjoyable ski down into Chappelle des Bois. (26.5kms)
Day 5: Chappelle des Bois in the Haut Jura boasts first class ski trails. From here we ski via Bellefontaine for superb views, to reach Les Rousses for the night. 29kms.
Day 6: Today we head up to the Foret du Massacre, from where there are excellent views. Our high point of the day is in the heart of the forest where we rest before continuing to Lajoux. (26.5kms)
Day 7: Our final and longest day completes the traverse! Winding our way up to Bellecombe we reach the rocky crest of the Jura from where there are fabulous views. Descending to Giron we meet our transport to the village of Lancrans for a celebratory dinner and final night. (28.5kms)
Day 8: KE package services end after breakfast. There are various options for returning to Geneva or Basel.
