Xi'an and the Terracotta Army

Discovered in 1974 by local farmers this UNESCO cultural heritage site dates from 210-209 BC. It is the necropolis of the first Emperor of China, Qin Hi Huang and contains more than 8000 statues. Each of the unique figures vary in height and include warriors, chariots and horses. Many statues are thought to still be buried near the emperors tomb. An in-site museum has been built over the pits. It has been billed at the Eighth Wonder of the World. In addition we can visit the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, which was built to house Buddhist scriptures, the city walls and the Great Mosque.
From Beijing we take the overnight train to Xi'an. The 4 person sleeper berths provide bedding and the trains are of a good standard with dining areas. On arrival in Xi'an (around 8.30) we have breakfast and set off on our tour of the Terracotta Army. The visit here is around 3hours giving us plenty of time to admire the statues. We then return to Xi'an and visit the Big Wild Goose Pagoda. This 65m high pagoda is one of Xi'an's main landmarks. We overnight in Xi'an and then the following day we have a city tour. Xi'an is a former capital of China and is also the start of the ancient Silk Road. It is circled by massive city walls which we visit. We also stop by the Great Mosque. This interest part of town is a architectural combination of Muslim and Chinese styles. Another overnight in Xi'an and then we depart on our flight home. Note that flights from Xi'an back to Beijing are not included and should be purchased as part of your international flights.

If you are returning directly to Beijing and not immediately flying internationally then we can provide you with a Xi'an to Beijing flight cost.
Itinerary
Day: 1
KE extension package services start with a transfer to Beijing railway station. From here we take the overnight train to Xi'an. The train leaves Beijing at around 8pm in the evening. This is a comfortable train with four berth sleeper carriages and bedding is supplied.
Day: 2
On arrival in Xi'an (approx 8.30am) we have breakfast and proceed to the site of the Terracotta Army. After our 3hr visit we go to the Big Wild Goose Pagoda. Overnight Xi'an (B)
Day: 3
Today is a sightseeing day of Xi'an. We visit the ancient city walls, the great Mosque and have time to enjoy this interesting city at the start of the Silk Road. Overnight Xi'an (B)
Day: 4
Breakfast is at the hotel and then you will be transferred to Xi'an airport for your homeward flight. KE extension package services end on arrival at Xi'an airport. (B)

If you have limited time then you can still visit this Xi'an and the Terracotta Army. We fly from Beijing to Xi'an early in the morning. On arrival we have breakfast and then transfer with our guide to the site of the Terracotta Army. The visit here is around 2-3hrs, giving us plenty of time to admire the statues. We then transfer back to Xi'an and visit the Big Wild Goose Pagoda. There is then some time left to have a short look around the town before transferring back to the airport for the evening flight back to Beijing. A long but rewarding day if you don't have much holiday time to spare.

KE extension package services start with a transfer from the hotel to Beijing airport, arriving Xi'an approx 9.30am. We transfer to the site of the Terracotta Army for a 2-3hr visit. After this we visit the Big Wild Goose Pagoda in Xi'an. The return flight leaves Xi'an at approx 9pm, arriving Beijing at approx 11pm. KE extension package services end with a transfer to your Beijing hotel. (L)
