Hidden Himalaya of Burma Trek
The following checklist should help you with your packing. As a general rule, you should always try to keep the weight of your equipment to a minimum. The packed weight of your trek bag while trekking should be no more than 15 kgs./33 lbs.
You must bring the following items:
Waterproof trekking boots
Gaiters
Trainers / sneakers
Socks
Underwear
Trekking trousers/pants
Waterproof and breathable jacket
Waterproof overtrousers / rainpants
Long johns (thermal underwear)
Base layer shirts
Casual shirt and/or T-shirts
Fleece jacket
Warm jacket (down)
Sunhat or cap
Fleece hat
Eyewear Sunglasses
Sun protection (including total bloc for lips) Factor 20+
Warm Inner thermal gloves or mittens
Waterproof over-mittens
Washbag and toiletries
Small travel towell
Antibacterial handwash
Small padlock (to lock your KE kit bag)
Selection of dry bags (to keep trek bag contents dry)
Daypack 40 litres / 2500 cu in with ice axe loop
Headtorch/headlamp with spare batteries
Trekking poles x 2
Water bottles 1 Litre / 2 pint (x2). (Note that the tube on camelback / platypus type systems can be prone to freezing up in cold conditions)
4 season sleeping bag
Basic First Aid Kit, including: A broad-spectrum antibiotic, antiseptic cream, throat lozenges, diarrhoea treatment (Immodium), painkillers, plasters and blister treatment, Insect repellent (DEET), antihistamine cream and tablets, re-hydration salts (Dioralite) and Malaria prophylaxis
Mountaineering Equipment:
Required for the optional ascent of Phonyin Razi only
4 season mountaineering boots capable of taking crampons (B1/B2 rated)
Mountaineering ice-axe (50 70 cm)
10 or 12 point crampons
The following items are optional:
Spare laces
Sleeping bag liner
Pocket-knife (remember to pack sharp objects in hold baggage)
Repair kit (eg. needle, thread, duct tape)
Camera, media, spare batteries
Travel clothes
