Famous for its beaches, its World Heritage architecture, its biodiversity and for its welcoming climate, Goa is a popular tourist destination. Visited by the Beatles in the late 1960's, Calangute is one of the best places to experience the magic of Goa. This coast is still very chilled-out, with endless beaches, palm-fringed bays and little development. Small bars and restaurants are scattered along the coastline and fishing boats are pulled up onto the beach every day. If you are looking for relaxation, this beach location has a lot to offer.

Formerly a fishing village, Kovalam has developed little since the first 'Hippy' travellers came this way in the 1970's. There are 3 beaches separated by rocky outcrops, extending to some 16 kms of palm-fringed sand, with a scattering of simple bars and restaurants. There is little development at Kovalam and the local fishermen continue to haul their nets and maintain their boats on the beaches in the way that their fathers did. If you are looking for a spot of relaxation, this location beside the Arabian Sea is hard to beat.
