Heart of the Tien Shan Trek

The trip info really could major more on the flowers - they were absolutely astonishing, and I know people who should go on it just as flower-enthus iasts. Also, could be worth mentioning that a European pocket field guide would probably cover most of the flora as an optional extra. Fabulous time - the flowers were beyond belief, the trekking offered something different every day, and there was both challenge and time to enjoy the views. I have never been in a landscape so remote and empty. Logistics-wise, everything was looked after, the support crew were delightful, especially our local guide, Irkin, and Ingrid, the leader was charming. I would go back to Kazakhstan/Kirghistan, and I would definitely do another trip with KE.

Being able to speak with Dan Short, who always seemed to be available and who had led the specific trip in the past, really helped me sort out what to take along clothes wise and equipment wise, and gave me an idea of what to expect weather-wise. This was truly a great trip, on my plan-list for years and therefore much-waited. It met all of my expectations. The helicopter trips and the days & nights spent on the Inylchek glacier were undoubtedly the highlights of this trip. I consider myself fortunate to have had such an amazing experience.During the actual trekking part of the trip, I particularly enjoyed the remoteness and beauty of the landscapes.

I most enjoyed the helicopter flights; being at the Tien Shan base camp; 'Alpine' scenery; absence of other trekkers and people generally; other members of the group - good mix

This was an excellent trek- every aspect was of the highest standard. The quality and variety of food was also excellent. Olga's cooking was of the highest standard and the horsemen worked hard to manage the camping arrangements. I would advise trekking poles for the glacier walks/ river crossings etc. The start of the trek is very exhausting, due to no overnight stay in a hotel following the flight This was an amazing trek and very well organised- the helicopter transfers and trekking on the South Inylchek glacier were outstanding. Please pass on my thanks to the KE Team. I most enjoyed - helicopter transfers- trekking on South Inylchek glacier- amazing!- quality & variety of food- excellent- well organised camping routine, willing and friendly support crew- remote locations

Office staff was very helpful in organizing logistics and visa requirements. The support crew was once again outstanding. Tents were set up in a timely manner. We had plenty to eat throughout the trip. There was also variety. The soups were excellent and really warmed us up after a long day on the trail. The local guide and interpreter were outstanding. I enjoyed their company and sense of humor. They were a pleasure to be around always smiling and laughing. They informed us about local myths and culture. I loved this trip. The scenery reminded you of the Swiss Alps of a couple of hundred years ago. Beautiful alpine meadows surrounded by alpine peaks. There were no roads or villages or development of any kind. You truly felt like you were all on your own with the herds of wild horses roaming the countryside. The highlight was the helicopter ride to the South Inylchek Glacier and the 3 nights we spent there surrounded by snow-capped peaks. The mountain views from the helicopter rides were a once in a lifetime experience. Camping on the South Inylchek Glacier was a truly memorable experience. I will never forget the sights and sounds of the avalanches in the distance.es in the distance were truly moving. The trip exceeded my expectations. The scenery and local staff were great. The friendships I made with the other trekkers will last a lifetime. KE has a knack for travelling to places that a lot of outfitters do not travel to. That is one reason why I keeping booking trips with you.
