Italian High Level Trek

Day 1: Rendezvous at the group hotel in St. Niklaus. KE Land Only package services begin with dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 2: Transfer to Zermatt and take the Klien Matterhorn cable way to Trockenersteg, from where it is a short walk to the Gandegg Hut (3029m). Afternoon skills training.
Day 3: We take the cable car to the top of the Klein Matterhorn. Then, crossing the the Breithorn Plateau, we climb the Breithorn (4164m) and descend to the Rifugio d' Ayas.
Day 4: Up and down to the Passo di Bettolina, then descend to col Bettaforca, from where we take the cable way down to Stafal. After a late lunch we take a cable car to the Plan Galbiet and the Refugio Galbiet (2537m).
Day 5: Continue by cable car to the Passo dei Salati (2963m) and the new Indren cable car to 3275m. Passing the Refugio Mantova, we make an ascent of Pyramid Vincent (4215m) and the Balmenhorn (4167m) and return to the Refugio Mantova (3500m).
Day 6: A spectacular day, crossing the Lisjoch (4151m), a high glacier col which is the only 'easy' crossing point back into Switzerland. Along the way depending on conditions we may have the opportunity to ascend another 4000-metre peak before descending to the Monte Rosa Hut (2883m).
Day 7: Descend to the Gornerglacier and cross this to reach the Gornergrat Railway. We take the train down to Zermatt for sightseeing, spending our last night in a hotel in Zermatt.
Day 8: KE Land Only package services end with breakfast at the hotel.
This holiday involves going to high altitude. During the course of your trip you will reach altitudes in excess of 3500 metres. This is not something that you should worry about; the human body is quite capable of adapting to a very wide range of altitudes, but it is important that we follow some simple rules in order to acclimatise successfully.
