Jebel Sahro Walking Week
Day 1: Rendezvous at the group hotel in Marrakech. Complimentary airport transfers are provided for clients arriving on this day. KE Land Only services begin with the evening meal. Hotel.
Day 2: Drive across the Atlas to Ouarzazate and then through the Dades Valley, famous for its Kasbahs and the Todra Gorge, onto the village of Tagdilt. Here we stay in a village house.
Day 3: Our first day of trekking we leave the Dades valley and walk southwards into the mountains. Today we cross as canyon and over the pass Tizi-n-Ouzarzam (2300m). We camp near a small oasis.
Day 4: Today we hike to our highest point on the trek, Kouaouch (2600m). From here we have some spectacular views of the snow-capped M'Goun summit to the north and the vast expanse of the Sahara to the south. Overnight camp.
Day 5: Today we see some of the most beautiful scenery in the Jebel Sahro as we walk past the Bab n'Ali (Ali's Gate). These are a pair of 60m monolights, and the whole area is reminiscent of the landscarpe in Monument Valley. Overnight camp.
Day 6: Our last day walking takes us from the village of Tiguiza to Hanedour. Through a number of villages and along streams which are in sharp contrast to the brown/red colours of the surrounding hills. Overnight camp.
Day 7: We depart the Jebel Sahro and drive back across the Atlas to Marrakech. We have the rest of the day to explore the remarkable central square of the Djemaa-el-Fna. Overnight at the group hotel.
Day 8: KE Land Only services end after breakfast. Complimentary airport transfers are provided for clients departing this day.
This holiday involves going to moderately high altitude. During the course of your trip you will reach altitudes in excess of 2500 metres. Most people will have no difficulty with this level of altitude but before coming on the holiday, we recommend you read the advice on trekking at altitude.
