Julian Alps Lakes and Mountains
Holiday Itinerary
Day 1: Rendezvous at the group's hotel base in Bled. A single timed group airport transfer is provided from Ljubljana Airport to Bled. KE Land Only package services begin with the evening meal.
Day 2: Walk in the Karavanke Mountains through the 'Barons Tunnels' to the Prevala hut for lunch, then through meadows and forest to Kamen Castle. 5 - 6 hours walking.
Day 3: Today we begin a 2-day high level walk through the Julian Alps. Driving into the Triglav National Park to Lake Bohinj, we take a cable car ride up into the mountains and walk with spectacular views of the surrounding peaks including Triglav, to our overnight stop in the Dom na Komni Hut (1525 metres) overlooking Lake Bohinj. 5 - 6 hours. 14km.
Day 4: Leaving the hut our walk today takes us through the beautiful valley of the 'Triglav Lakes', past a series of 7 differently coloured lakes, before descending to our waiting tour bus and returning to Bled. 5 - 6 hours. 14km.
Day 5: A free day to enjoy the lakeside town of Bled. For those who wish there are a number of possibilities for walks in the surrounding area or it is possible to arrange an optional excursion to see the Postojana caves.
Day 6: Starting at the small village of Gozd Martuljek, we follow forest trails to a 'hidden valley' in the Martuljak Mountains and through a gorge to a series of waterfalls. We have the option to take lunch at the Lipovceva Hut before returning to Gozd Martuljek and back to Bled. 5 hours 14km.
Day 7: We see a completely different side of this region today as we climb up onto the Pokljuka Plateau, rich in flora and fauna and where the traditional way of life is still practiced by the few shepherds and cow herders who live here. There are many variatiions for walks here and afterwards we return to Bled.
Day 8: KE Land Only package services end after breakfast with an early afternoon single group transfer from Bled to Ljubljana Airport.
