The Laya Trek

Most enjoyed remoteness. Lack of other groups. Uniqueness of country and local people. Great mountain scenery. Pace of trek was just right.

I really enjoyed this trip. it was an excellent mix of culture (with the visit to the Thimpu Festival, and the Tigers Nest monastery), superb scenery, and real adventure (with being so remote, and so far from a Starbucks!)
I most enjoyed getting to the top of each pass, being invited into peoples homes in Laya, the visit the Tigers Nest Monastery.
Everyone from the local agent - Yangphel - were very good, especially the trek leader Jigme. The CEO Karma Lotey met us at the hotel on the first evening, and welcomed us to Bhutan, which was a very nice touch. The trekking crew were excellent, especially Dorge, one of the assistants. The whole operation ran very smoothly. Jigme was a superb trek leader, very attentive, knowledgeable and good company to be with.
All contact with the staff at the KE office was very good.
