Day 1: Rendezvous at the group hotel in Skopje. KE Land Only package services begin with the single group transfer from Skopje Airport in the early afternoon. There will be a city tour to take in the main sights including the Mother Theresa Memorial. After a briefing dinner will be in a traditional Macedonian restaurant and overnight at the group hotel.
Day 2: After breakfast we take the cable car to the summit of Mt Vodno to enjoy the views of Skopje and beyond. We'll hike down the ridge to the Matka Canyon, stopping off at St Nikola Shishevski Monastery. After lunch we will transfer to our hotel in the ski resort of Popova Shapka (1800m). Approx 4 hours walking.
Day 3: An early start for a long day of hiking. We follow the Vakafska trail across scenic high pasture and moorland, then ascend an easy ridge to the tower at the summit of Titov Vrv (2747m), the highest peak in the Shar Planina. Returning to Popova Shapka, we drive to our hotel in Mavrovo. Distance 22km, 1137m of ascent. Approx 9-10 hours walking.
Day 4: We make the short drive to the trailhead, the starting point for our ascent of Medenica (2166m), the high point of the Bistra Massif. The trail starts in the forest, and then reaches more open and rocky terrain. After a picnic lunch near Galicnik, we descend to Jance and transfer back to Mavrovo. Distance 17km, 687m of ascent, 1500m of descent. Approx 5 hours walking.
Day 5: Today, we drive to Bitushe and hike fron the village to a high traverse trail for our first view of Golem Krchin (2345m). Trekking up to this summit (with its small ruined church) we have views of many peaks Macedonian peaks as well as Mount Olympos in Greece. Descending to the village of Rostushe, we drive to our hotel in Ohrid. Distance 15km, 1387m of ascent and descent. Approx 7 hours walking.
Day 6: A well-earned rest and sightseeing day. We have a guided tour of the UNESCO Heritage listed city of Ohrid. We visit the Amphitheater, the Church of St. Sofia, Tsar Samuel's Fortress and the Church of St. Jovan Kaneo. Lunch in the old town and afternoon at leisure. Overnight in Ohrid.
Day 7: Today's walk is in the Galicica National Park and our objective is Magaro (2255m), the highest peak in a range between the 2 biggest lakes in Macedonia, Lake Ohrid and Lake Prespa. We have brilliant lake and mountain views. We drive to Ohrid for lunch before the return transfer (4 hours) to Skopje. Dinner in the city. Distance 8km, 680m of ascent, 733m of descent. Approx 2-3 hours walking.
Day 8: KE Land Only package services end after breakfast. A very early morning single group transfer to Skopje Airport is provided.
