  • Two action-packed weeks in the land of the Incas
  • White Water Rafting on the Urubamba River
  • Trek the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu
  • Mountain biking on Andean trails
  • Visit major Inca sites in the Cusco Valley on horseback

After sightseeing in and around the cosmopolitan city of Cusco, this amazing multi-activity holiday in Peru begins with an exhilarating day's rafting on the Urubamba River. Continuing our exploration of the Sacred Valley of the Incas, we visit the colourful Indian craft market at Pisac and have the option to complete the best 1-day mountain bike ride in the Andes of Peru, dropping more than 1000 metres, via Inca ruins and the spectacular Maras salt pans. Then, after meeting our trek crew, the holiday continues with classic 4-day hike on the undulating and continually impressive Inca Trail (or into the stunning Lares Valley if all Inca Trail permits have been allocated). Arriving at Machu Picchu, we have a full day to soak up the atmosphere of this unique location, before taking the world-famous train ride back to Cusco. A full-on Peruvian adventure and one that can easily be extended with a visit to Lake Titicaca or the Amazon Rainforest if you wish to continue your holiday!

BOOK EARLY for the Inca Trail! The rules governing the issue of Inca trail permits mean that these permits are limited and allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Book early to guarantee your place on your chosen departure.

Note that if Inca Trail permits are no longer available at the time of booking, you can still join this holiday and take part in all the activities including a spectacular alternative Inca trail, before visiting Mach Picchu.

Is this holiday for you?

This is a multi-activity holiday in Peru which includes horse riding, rafting, mountain biking and a hike along the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. Our trek on the classic Inca Trail offers a variety of trekking conditions. Most of the walking is on well-defined tracks, including some sections of ancient Inca highways, which are paved with stone in places. There are occasional river crossings and some steeper sections of trail on the first two days of the trek. There are a couple of quite tough days - but, overall the trekking is straightforward and not sustained or committing. We have allowed 4 nights at an altitude of a little over 3000 metres before we start trekking which should mean that the group is well acclimatised before setting off. During the optional biking part of the trip we will be following jeep roads, with some sections of paved road and some sections of footpath and singletrack. The biking is principally downhill or on the level. It is not strenuous or technically difficult. There is always the option of taking the support vehicle if you don't fancy any part of the riding. The Urubamba River, on the stretches that we will encounter, involves whitewater rafting which varies between River Grade 1 and River Grade 3 plus. The most challenging rapids that we run will be quite exciting enough for beginners to the sport. Comprehensive instruction is given by our professional river guides prior to setting off and full safety equipment is used.
