Mont Blanc Classic Walks
Holiday Itinerary
Day 1: Rendezvous at the group's chalet in Argentiere, above Chamonix. KE Land Only package services begin in the evening with a trip briefing from the guide who will also check your equipment. Dinner and overnight at the group hotel.
Day 2: We set off this morning through the hamlet of Le Lavancher, climbing steadily on a good trail through the forest. There are views of the gorge and the head of the Mer de Glace glacier with a possible coffee stop at the Chalet de Chapeau. Eventually we leave the tree-line and enjoy views across to the peaks of the Aiguilles Rouges before returning to the chalet. Ascent 657m. Descent 657m.
Day 3: A spectacular walk to Lac Blanc (2352m.), one of the most stunning locations in the area. Our walk takes us through a Nature Reserve and from the lake we walk along the ridge with classic views of Mont Blanc. Arriving at Flegere we take tha cable car back down to Chamonix. Ascent 1100m. Descent 500m.
Day 4: We start the day with a ride on the historic Mont Blanc Express which takes us to Vallorcine. We follow a well graded trail up to the 'alpage' or summer grazing ground at Loriaz for more views of the Mont Blanc Range. A gentle stroll back through flower meadows leads us to our chalet. Ascent 720 m. Descent 760m.
Day 5: After a short transfer to Le Bettey, we hike through the forest to the 'alpage' at Chailloux. A choice of resting here to enjoy some of the best mountain views in the area, or ascent of Aiguillette des Houches (2285m.). Ascent 933m. Descent 933m.
Day 6: We head for Montroc and the start of our excellent ridge walk along the Posettes (2201m.) with great views to the Le Tour and Argentiere glaciers, as well as into Switzerland. After lunch on the summit, we descend to Le Buet and take the train back to our chalet. Ascent 819m. Descent 900m. Chalet in Argentiere. Ascent 819m. Descent 900m.
Day 7: A great finale to our week today as we climb first to the 'alpage' at Blaitiere and then to the viewpoint of Signal Forbes overlooking the Mer de Glace. We then take the historic rack railway of Montenvers back down to Chamonix. Ascent 1100m. Descent 290m.
Day 8: KE Land Only package services end with breakfast at the chalet.
