Four 4000 metre Peaks of Toubkal

Day 1: Rendezvous at the group hotel in Marrakech. Complimentary airport transfers are provided for clients arriving on this day. Depending on your flight time you may have the opportunity to do a little exploration. KE Land Only services begin with the evening meal.
Day 2: An hour's drive takes us to Arba Tighedouine and the start of our trek where we follow the Zat Valley to the Berber village of Talatast. Our trekking day offers narrow valleys, terraced fields and walnut groves before reaching camp at Ait Stimane (1200m) for our first night under canvas. Walk distances approx; 5hrs, 13km, 550m ascent & 300m descent.
Day 3: This morning's trekking takes us to Ouarzazt - "gateway" to the Yagour Plateau before we climb into a desert landscape known for its rock carvings. Our camp at Agdal n'Irkane (2300m) is on a high pasture used by traditional Berbers. Walk distances approx; 6-7hrs, 18.5kms, 1200m ascent & 310m descent.
Day 4: After the morning's descent of more than 1000 metres, we reach the bustling village of Setti Fatima where we enjoy a welcome shady lunch beside the river. Our afternoon trekking is towards the gorge of Ourika where we set up camp at Agadir Ait Boulmane (1500m). Walk distances approx; 5-6hrs, 16kms, 1010m ascent & 1320 descent.
Day 5: A beautiful day of trekking through the Ourika Valley with the added bonus of some paddling or wading through rivers along the trail! Climbing to the foot of the Tizi Boukchoud pass we camp as (2500m). Walk distance approx; 7-8hrs, 13.5kms, 1480m ascent & 520m descent.
Day 6: The morning's 470m climb through Juniper trees to Tizi Boukchoud (2976m) rewards us with superb views of the Toubkal massif - well worth the effort! After an afternoon of following the Tifnoute gorge we arrive at Adouz (2700m) and camp at the base of our first peak Adrar n'Dern. Walk distance approx; 5-6hrs, 11kms, 945m ascent & 540m descent.
Day 7: An early start is needed for our traverse to the peak of Adrar n'Dern (4001m) which offers fantastic views of the surrounding ranges. They'll be time for admiring the panorama and our first "summit shots" before descending to the head of the Tinzart valley. We set up camp at approximately 3000m. Walk distance approx; 8-9hrs, 13kms, 1185m ascent & 1100m descent.
Day 8: Today's slightly shorter day starts with a 30min climb to the top of Tizi n'Ourai. We spend the rest of the day passing traditional villages and descending on mule trails. Tonight we take a break from camping and experience a rustic gite in the village of Amsouzart (1740m). Walk distance approx; 5hrs, 11kms, 120m ascent & 1565m descent.
Day 9: Today offers unforgettable trekking zig-zagging steeply over moraine boulders before being rewarded by the breathtaking sight of Lake Ifni, the largest lake in the central Atlas. Our trail traverses above the lake and through a gorge mouth before setting up our adventurous camp on crude tent platforms beside a stream at 2700m. Walk distance approx; 5-6 hours, 12.5kms, 1345m ascent & 245 descent.
Day 10: A long steep climb takes us to Tizi-n-Ouanoums (3650m) between Toubkal and Ouanoukrim. The optional ascent of Ouanoukrim (4088m) is "hands on" with some scrambling but well worth the effort! After enjoying stunning views of Toubkal and "summit photos" we descend to camp at 3207m. Walk distance approx; 8hrs (5hrs without the ascent of Ouanoukrim), 12kms, 1600m ascent & 1350m descent
Day 11: An early start this morning! Our trail heads steeply up above the refuge zig-zagging across scree and boulders before reaching the summit of Jebel Toubkal (4167m) - rewarding us with panoramic views and plenty of time for "success photo shots!" The afternoon's trekking descends by a different route back to camp. Walk distance approx; 8-9 hours, 7kms, 1490m ascent & 1490m descent.
Day 12: Our first steep ascent is to Tizi Tadat (3800m) - "pass of the finger" offering short sections of scrambling and superb views of Toubkal. From here we have the option to ascend our fourth and final peak of Bouguinoussen (4025m) before descending to the refuge at Tamsoulte (2100m) and our final camp. Walk distance approx; 8hrs (6hrs without the optional ascent), 9kms, 730m ascent & 1640m descent.
Day 13: Today is our final day of climbing in this mountain odyssey, heading across the Tizi Mzik covered in juniper we are rewarded with stunning views of Ouanoukrim and the Imlil Valley. Our trek ends at Ait Souka where we stay in a much welcomed comfortable gite. Walk distance approx; 6hrs, 10.5kms, 450m ascent & 840m descent.
Day 14: Following a short walk down to Imlil we drive back to Marrakech. Our afternoon of sightseeing is led by an English speaking local guide and focused around the Djemaa-el-Fna including the famous labyrinth of souks. After some free time in the afternoon we rendezvous for an evening of Moroccan hospitality, the perfect end to our trek.
Day 15: KE Land Only services end after breakfast. Complimentary airport transfers are provided for clients departing this day.
This holiday involves going to high altitude. During the course of your trip you will reach altitudes in excess of 3500 metres. This is not something that you should worry about; the human body is quite capable of adapting to a very wide range of altitudes, but it is important that we follow some simple rules in order to acclimatise successfully. Before coming on this holiday you should read the advice on trekking at high altitude.
