Mgoun Traverse - High Atlas Trek

Day 1: Rendezvous at the group hotel in Marrakech. Complimentary airport transfers are provided for clients arriving on this day. KE Land Only services begin with the evening meal. Hotel.
Day 2: Drive to Bougamez Valley, begin trek at Agouti (1780m. / 5840ft.) with a gentle 3 hour walk along the river towards Arous. Camp.
Day 3: Climb to the viewpoint of Aghouixni Est (3400m. / 11,155ft.) and descend to a high plateau known as Tilibiyt N'Tarkeddit. Camp beside mountain hut at c. 2900m. / 9514ft.
Day 4: Optional traverse of M'Goun (4068m. / 13,346ft.) with the limestone landscape covered in shells and fossils. Stupendous views at the summit of High Atlas, Dades Valley and Jebel Sahro. Descend to Tiguitime (2702m). For those not wishing to climb the summit one can contour around with the mule train. Camp.
Day 5: A superb and varied day. We follow the 'little valley' of Tichki passing a beautiful waterfall before arriving into our campsite at the entrance of Amjgag gorge, camping at an altitude of 1950m.
Day 6: We begin our day with the walk through the narrow gorge with sides rising several metres above our heads. We then continue on through pretty villages and paths lined with tamarix and oleander, arriving at Boutaghar where we stay in a comfortable gite.
Day 7: Drive via the Dades Valley and Ouarzazate to Marrakech where we check into our hotel. Rest of the afternoon free before a celebratory dinner.
Day 8: KE Land Only services end after breakfast. Complimentary airport transfers are provided for clients departing on this day.
This holiday involves going to high altitude. During the course of your trip you will reach altitudes in excess of 3500 metres. This is not something that you should worry about; the human body is quite capable of adapting to a very wide range of altitudes, but it is important that we follow some simple rules in order to acclimatise successfully. Before coming on this holiday you should read the advice on trekking at high altitude.
