This ultimate adventure holiday in Morocco takes us from souks to the Sahara and from medinas to Morocco's mountains. Even the experienced traveller can expect to be amazed by Morocco's variety of landscape and culture. Flying into Casablanca this far-ranging tour then travels east by way of the Roman ruins at Volubilis and the Moorish city of Meknes to the minarets and souks of the ancient Islamic city of Fes. Crossing the green Middle Atlas and then the rocky High Atlas, we stop off to do some easy hiking, before continuing on to the edge of the Sahara Desert. Here we spend a night in a fixed camp amongst the gigantic dunes at Erg Chebbi and enjoy a camel ride. Leaving the desert behind, we take a walk in the Todra Gorge and traverse the palm-fringed Dades Valley to reach the fantastic 'filmset' kasbah at Ait Benhadou. A final, free day in the magical city of Marrakech is a fitting end to this brilliant adventure. Not to be confused with other ‘Grand Tours' of Morocco, this is the real deal which ticks the boxes of this wonderful and varied country. Staying in comfortable accommodation throughout and with nearly all meals included in the price, it is also an excellent value holiday.
Is this holiday for you?
This is a 10 day journey through Morocco, stopping off at many of the most famous and most remarkable towns and locations. To enhance the experience on this discovery holiday we have included a short walk on many of the days. These will include anything from an hour or two's exploration of a historic or cultural site, to a half-day walk on forest trails or easy mountain paths. This is not a long or continuous walk and should be well within the capabilities of anyone who keeps themselves in reasonably good shape. It is also important to note that each of the walks is optional - if you don't want to do the day's walk, there is always the alternative to stay with the vehicle. Quite obviously, the holiday includes journeys by minibus and these are a highly scenic integral part of the holiday and will include stops for photographs, refreshment etc.
