The Balkans Bash - Montenegro

Day 1: Rendezvous at the group accommodation at Vucje Ski resort above the town of Niksic. A single timed group transfer is provided from Dubrovnik Airport at lunch time to the group hotel. KE Land Only package services begin with the evening meal.
Day 2: Starting directly from our accommodation, we bike on rough double tracks across high plains overlooked by the Moraca Mountains. Beyond lunch at Kapetanovo Lake, we drop down through the Moraca Canyon for a huge Alpine style descent to the main road. Here we transfer to Kolasin via the Crkvine Pass and our hotel. Ride 46 km (29 miles), with 1253 metres ascent and 2375 metres descent.
Day 3: Still heading east, we cross the Bjelasica Mountains, climbing steadily through the Biogradska Gora N.P. to the highest pastures at around 1800 metres, with great views of high peaks. We then drop down via the remote village of Kurikuce to the town of Berane, where we stay overnight. Ride 45 km (28miles), with 866 metres ascent and 1150 metres descent.
Day 4: A challenging day initially on gentle country roads, we climb towards the border with Kosovo and the Mokra Planina or 'misty mountain'. Then, on remote shepherds' trails, we cross the high pasture and finish with a huge descent into the Lim Valley. Overnight at a hotel in Andrijevica. Ride distance 67 km (42 miles), with 1645 metres ascent and 1581 metres descent.
Day 5: Heading back up into the Bjelasica Mountains, we climb on a superbly graded country road to the upland area of Lisa (1878m) with the dramatic peak of Komovi as a backdrop. Then across the summer pastures of the plateau and follow good track back down to Kolasin for a 2nd night. Ride distance 49 km (31 miles) with 1344 metres ascent and 1159 metres descent.
Day 6: Start early for the longest ride of the trip, up via the Lipovo Valley into the world of shepherds and their flocks, an excellent graded off road track brings us to the plateau of Sinjajevinja, one of the most beautiful places in Montenegro. Then, it's down to Zabljak, the central town in the Durmitor National Park. Ride distance 74 km (46 miles) with 1676 metres ascent and 1194 metres descent.
Day 7: Our final ride climbs steadily to a pass on the southern side of the N.P. a popular scenic point. This is followed by a long off-road downhill through the Nevideo Canyon to the village of Petnjinca. From here, we transfer to Kotor beside the fjord of the same name and have the chance to check out this charming old town. Ride distance 40 km (25 miles) with 703 metres ascent and 1107 metres descent.
Day 8: KE Land only services end with the early morning group transfer which arrives at Dubrovnik Airport around 0830.
