Morocco, Bike - Road Cycling, 9 days - from £845 (land only) - from €1,140 (land only) - from $1,420 (land only)
Day 1: Rendezvous at the group hotel in Marrakech. Marrakech Airport transfers are provided. KE Land Only package services begin with the evening meal.
Day 2: After a 2-hour transfer from Marrakech to Taddert, we begin our Tour of Toubkal with a superb little 'Alpine' climb over the Tizi n'Tichka (2260m), the main pass across the High Atlas. We then have a superb descent on great roads to our hotel in Ouarzazate. Ride distance 103 km (64 miles) with 850 metres of ascent and 1450 metres of descent.
Day 3: A relaxed start, with time to explore one of Ouarzazate's kasbahs, before we start our undulating ride southwards into the desert. Crossing the Tizi n'Tinififft (1660m), there are views back to Jebel Mgoun and a fantastic descent to the market town of Agdz. Ride distance 69 km (44 miles) with 950 metres of ascent and 1100 metres of descent.
Day 4: A lovely ride down through the famous Draa Valley, passing many small oasis towns and ancient kasbahs, before finishing at Zagora. This is the gateway to the Sahara, with the famous sign pointing out into the desert which says `Tombouctou 52 jours`. Ride distance 95 km (59 miles) with 350 metres of ascent and 550 metres of descent.
Day 5: After a short transfer back to Agdz, we bike westwards on a quiet and at first excellent road below the Atlas Mountains. Passing the cobalt mine at Bou Azzer, we continue to the small Berber town of Tazenakht which is famous for making carpets. Ride distance 87 km (55 miles) with 1050 metres of ascent and 600 metres of descent.
Day 6: We continue cycling west, beneath the foothills of the Atlas and climbing over a series of small passes, before a long descent into the remote town of Aoulouz. Now well off the tourist trail, this area is famous for producing saffron and argan oil and we stop overnight in a converted kasbah. Ride distance 122 km (76 miles) with 850 metres of ascent and 1400 metres of descent.
Day 7: Fit and well acclimatised, we now ride the hardest climb of the trip. Cycling on a quiet backroad, we once again cross the High Atlas via the remote Tizi n'Test (2100m). With 1720 metres of ascent, this is a superb day which ends at a beautiful mountain gite at Ijoukak. Ride distance 110 km (69 miles) with 1750 metres of ascent and 1300 metres of descent.
Day 8: The final day of biking to Marrakech is not all downhill - but there is plenty of fast descent. There is an excellent view of Mount Toubkal as we cross our final pass before the town of Asni and we have lunch in the vicinity of the Djema el-Fna once we reach Marrakech. Ride distance 100 km (63 miles) with 700 metres of ascent and 1450 metres of descent.
Day 9: KE Land Only package services end after breakfast. Transfers to Marrakech Airport are provided.
