The following checklist should help you with your packing. As a general rule, you should always try to keep the weight of your equipment to a minimum.

You must bring the following items:

Hiking boots

Socks

Gaiters

Trainers / sneakers or sandals

Technical walking socks (2 or 3 pairs)

Spare laces

Trekking trousers / pants

Lightweight waterproof overtrousers / rain-pants

Underwear

Shorts

Thermal baselayer shirts (1 short sleeve, 1 long sleeve)

T-shirts and/or casual shirts

Fleece jacket or warm jumper

Lightweight waterproof jacket

Sunhat

Fleece hat

Eyewear - sunglasses

Lightweight thermal gloves

Headtorch / head lamp and batteries

Daypack c. 40 litres / 2400 cu in

Water bottles x 2 (1 Litre / Quart)

Sheet sleeping bag (for the 2 nights in refuges)

The following items are optional:

Basic first aid kit - refer to trip dossier for details

Sun protection (including for lips)

Penknife

Trekking poles

Insect repellant

Camera and batteries

Travel clothes

Washbag and toiletries

Small towel

Antibacterial handwash

Toilet paper

Sewing kit

Small padlock

Duct tape

Earplugs (particularly if you are not the one snoring!)

Notes:

For the 2 nights that the group stays in refuges (Day 2 and Day 4) you will not have access to your trek bags. Effectively, this means that on 4 of the days you will be carrying your sheet sleeping bag and minimal overnight essentials.
