The following checklist should help you with your packing. As a general rule, you should always try to keep the weight of your equipment to a minimum.

You must bring the following items:

Walking boots

Trainers / sneakers for travelling


Trekking trousers (trek pants)


Baselayer shirts

Casual shirts and/or T-shirts

2 layers of fleece – warm jumper and jacket

Waterproof jacket

Lightweight waterproof overtrousers (rain pants)


Warm hat

Eyewear – Sunglasses

Daypack c.25 litres

Headtorch (Headlamp) with spare batteries

Sun protection (including total bloc for lips, nose etc.)

Water bottles 1 Litre (2 pint) x 2

Travel clothes

Washbag and toiletries

Antibacterial handwash


Beach towel

Insect repellant

Small padlock (to lock your KE trek bag)

Basic First Aid Kit including the following: A broad spectrum antibiotic, antiseptic cream, throat lozenges, diarrhoea treatment (Imodium), painkillers, plasters and blister treatment, Insect repellent, and re-hydration salts (Dioralite). Glucose tablets and multi-vitamin tablets are also a good idea

The following items are optional:


Spare laces



Trekking poles

Pocket-knife (note: always pack sharp objects in hold baggage)

Repair kit – (eg. needle, thread, duct tape)

Camera, film / memory cards, batteries


During this holiday there are a number of occasions when you will need to carry your luggage for short distances. It is preferable that a piece of luggage with wheels or a large backpack, or something that you can easily carry, makes sense for this holiday and is more user friendly for this type of holiday than a duffle bag or holdall.
