Holiday Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive Johannesburg. KE Land Only package services begin with a transfer from the airport to the group hotel. This is a free day to relax and enjoy the sights of Johannesburg before our early morning departure for the wilds of Africa the next day.

Day 2: Depart Johannesburg, heading North to the Khama Rhino Sanctuary. Located on the Kalahari sandveld, a number of natural waterholes provide the perfect habitat for rhino, zebra and wildebeest. We stay overnight in a lodge at the sanctuary.

Day 3: Driving across the Kalahari to Maun, we spend the night in Maun where traditional Africa meets the wild west! We overnight at a lodge in Maun and prepare for our African safari adventure.

Day 4: This morning we transfer by open 4WD to the Okavango Delta which is the largest inland delta in the world! Depending on conditions (and season) our wildlife viewing today will seek out the large populations of elephants, buffalo and birdlife that reside in the Delta.

Day 5: The best time for wildlife viewing is early morning and the best way to explore the Delta is to be poled along in a Moroko (a traditional dug-out canoe). The water gently laps against your canoe as you are provided with the perfect ringside seat to the Okavango show! We spend a second night in our wild camp.

Day 6: Departing from the Delta, today we go bush in the Moremi Game Reserve! Named after Chief Moremi, the game reserve was founded by the BaTawana people and is the first game reserve in Africa to be founded by an African tribe. From a comfortable tented lodge base, we will spend the next four days in Moremi searching for the big five!

Day 7: Depending on conditions, game drives today will be accompanied by your guide who will sharpen up your senses in search of wildlife. Moremi has a rich and healthy population of wildlife that stretches over 50,000 square kilometres and combines woodlands with accacia forests and floodplains with lagoons, that present an ever changing environment for your safari adventure.

Day 8: Blending rest and relaxtion at the camp with glorious game rides, you should be close to achieving the big five sightings of lion, leopard, buffalo, rhino and elephant! Moremi game reserve is well-known in Africa for it's variety of vegetation which contributes to the healthy wildlife population. Much of its success is owed to the co-operation between conservationists and the BaTawana people.

Day 9: Moving out of the Moremi Game Reserve, we return to Maun in our 4WD absorbing the last of this lush game reserve and prepare ourselves for a change of scenary!

Day 10: Before our departure this morning, there is the option to take a game flight over the Okavango Delta, which can be paid for locally. We head to Nata which brings yet another dramatic change in scenary. The shimmering salt pans of Makgadikgadi generate the appearance of an endless plain. We stay in a lodge close to the pans.

Day 11: Today there are wildlife viewing opportunities on our journey from Nata through the Chobe Forest Reserve. The reserve is a fascinating area as it has been designated for mixed game management and human habitation. Arriving in the town of Kasane close to the reserve, we check into our lodge.

Day 12: We commence our day with an early morning 4WD game drive across Chobe National Park. Chobe was the first National Park in Botswana and attracts many a safari enthusiast for its estimated elephant population of 50,000. In the afternoon our pace slows to the flow of the Chobe River as we take a wildlife cruise to watch elephants on the banks of the river quench their thirst and playfully cool off.

Day 13: Departing Botswana, we cross the border and head for one of the seven natural wonders of the world, Victoria Falls! The mighty falls which plunge 108 metres are known locally as the 'Smoke that Thunders'. After marvelling the falls and the iconic bridge comissioned by Cecil Rhodes which spans the gorge, we check into our hotel in the town of Victoria Falls on the Zimbabwe side.

Day 14: We can opt to have a lazy last day by the hotel pool, or explore some of the handicraft markets. It is also possible to book an optional activity such as a scenic flight over the falls or a Zambezi sunset cruise. Our last night in Africa.

Day 15: KE Land Only package services end after breakfast. Airport transfers can be arranged on request.
